I have 6 battery-powered Z-Wave shades. They've been working fine for almost 2 years albeit with a very recent change that introduced them to Hubitat... which went very well. One of the shades (of course, it had to be the one that's mounted 25 feet high) has decided to stop reporting status--it still operates perfectly, though. This is mostly just an annoyance because it's never represented properly on the dashboard and because the Device Activity Check app can longer monitor it effectively and tells me so every day.
So, I was wondering--short of me getting the ladder back out, climbing up there, removing the battery-pack briefly to reboot it, is there some Z-Wave command that's equivalent to a reboot that I can throw at it via the Basic Z-Wave Tool... or an option I haven't thought of?
Of course, I'll get the ladder eventually so this is in equal measure problem:solution and learning on my part.
With the shade activator 25 ft high, you might be marginal with respect to signal path. You might try adding a Z-wave repeater/range extender between the hub and the actuator.
I do not know if the Z-wave device will connect to an added repeater without rebooting the device. You can try using the specific Z-wave Refresh and Repair buttons within the Z-wave settings. If a Discover button is show for the shades, try that as well. Please do not Repair or Reset the entire Z-wave mesh as that might do more harm than good. If your device has completely disconnected from the hub mesh, then you might have to reset it. Unfortunately, you might need to get the shades closer to the hub to do that. The easiest way to do that may be to out your hub on an extension cord and move it close to your shades.
