Old smarthings/centralite zigbee outlet with z-wave repeater supports beaming?

Hi-

I have several of these old smartthing zigbee outlets with the z-wave repeaters in them. I have the repeaters setup as discrete devices in hubitat.

I have a couple of z-wave locks that... don't work that well. Sometimes they're fine, but other times not. They seem to especially have difficulty reporting their state back to hubitat. That is, I can issue a lock command, and I hear the lock lock, but the state sometimes doesn't update to "locked" in hubitat.

I'm wondering if my issue is related to these old repeaters. I just read some hubitat documentation that suggests locks need to be associated with repeaters that support "beaming". Does anybody know if these old repeaters do that? Can someone recommend a repeater that works well with yale zwave locks?

Did you pair these centralite to the hub by zigbee only or did you do the press the button 8 times while pairing with z-wave to get the repeater to function. The zwave repeater (as far as I know) doesn't work unless you pair it with that special pairing process. If you just pair them normally, only zigbee is active. I don't have any of mine as zwave repeaters since I have heard they are problematic so I just use the zigbee side of it. Smarthings was the same way. Lowes Iris was the only hub that paired both protocols when pairing the plug, which is what I had these 33 on before going to Smarthings when Iris closed and then to Hubitat when I was tired of ST's cloud and other crap they were doing or going to do.

I thought only the Iris (not SmartThings, although they look the same and were both made by Centralite) ones had the Z-Wave repeater built in? They would have a Z-Wave Plus sticker on the back and the Z-Wave repeater gets paired separately on Hubitat, as jonathanm8 suggested. The Z-Wave repeaters can be decent or bad, depending on the firmware revision.

I don't use smart locks, but as far as I know the Ring V2 Extenders and the Aeotec Range Extender 7 are both 700-series and work well as repeaters. The Ring V2 has the added benefit of a battery backup.

This is true. Just because the zigbee side is paired does not mean the zwave side is.

This is also true. Check the back to see what radios the device has.

I have a Schlage Connect Z-Wave lock and had difficulty pairing it with my Hubitat. I added a Z-wave outlet halfway between the hub and the lock; still no joy. I moved the outlet closer to the lock, but that did not help either. Finally, I purchased one of the Aeotec 7 series repeaters that supports S2 security and placed it about 8 feet from the lock. I paired the lock with Hubitat using the procedure to enable S2 security. Then I paired the lock. The lock was recognized quickly and was added to the mesh with S2 authenticated enabled.

The Aeotec 7 repeater is a few dollars more expensive than the series 6 repeater, but if you have a Hubitat C7 with the 700 series chip or anticipate the possibility of upgrading your current hub in the future, the Aeotec 7 repeater with the 700 series chip is a great way to strengthen your Z-Wave mesh.

Yeah just to update: I mis-spoke. These are the centralite IRIS outlets with the z-wave repeater in them (not the smartthings ones), and yes, I paired the repeater portion separately with the 8 button press trick.

I have them setup with the iris z-wave repeater DH, and the device interrogation and test communication buttons work and report online. I'm just wondering if these support "beaming".
