Years ago since i discovered HUBITAT i took my HUE lights off my house put them in a box and forgot about them. I think that was 2021?
Well i am about to sell the house and found the box with the old HUE bulbs and HUB and was wondering is they were worth using again? Do they still require the HUB or by now they integrate directly into Hubitat?
I have a C7 and it has been working for 5 or 6 years untouched, i update firmware every now and then but mainly it sits there just doing its job since i programed the thing years ago.
Ready to move into my daughters house and just wanted to know if these HUE lights go into the pile of keep or the pile of FREE take what you need pile.
I think the hue lights and hub are from 2021 more or less and haven't been plugged since then.
You can check HERE to find out which generation of Hue bridge and bulbs you have.
The latest 4th gen. bulbs with Bluetooth should be ZigBee 3.0 and work with no issues on your Hubitat hub.
Well the hub is a 2nd gen but not sure if the bulbs are the BLU version. Let me google what ver are the BLU kind if not they are going to the FREE pile.
If you have one of them close at hand the easiest way is to check for the Bluetooth symbol on the bulb.

Hue bulbs have always been able to pair directly with Hubitat hubs, as they are standard Zigbee (Zigbee Light Link/ZLL 1.x or Zigbee 3.0, depending on generation/firmware) devices. But early ones in particular were known to be poor routers for other Zigbee (ZHA) devices like you probably have paired to your hub, so it tended to be a bad idea unless you only had bulbs.
But even then, some people prefer the Hue Bridge for the additional features it offers (native Alexa or GH integration including scenes, Apple HomeKit or Apple Home via Matter support, transparent use of Zigbee scenes and bindings for their button devices if you add any for control, or just having a dedicated lighting-focused ecosystem). Assuming your bulbs are new enough, you'd likely be good to pair them directly -- but since you already have the Bridge, there's little to loose by trying it that way, IMHO.
FWIW, if what you have was purchased new in 2021, they are probably new enough bulbs and a V2 (or "2.1") Bridge.
This is tantalizing information. Making me realize the Philips hub serves no added value for my setup. In which case I'd love to eliminate it along with the Hue integrations. Can I expect any hiccups while trying to pair the bulbs with my c7?
Pairing, no; operation, maybe. The thing main thing (routing behavior) I mentioned above is also noted here: How to Build a Solid Zigbee Mesh | Hubitat Documentation
There are also Hue features that are not currently accessible from Hubitat, like native Zigbee scenes (Hue uses these when you create scenes -- sends a group broadcast and all devices activate to their stored settings for that scene, rather than relying on commands from the hub sent to each individual device) and maybe a bit easier use of groups (Hue creates them automatically when you create a room or zone -- and is pretty smart about when to use them, -- but you can create Zigbee groups on Hubitat using Room Lighting or Groups from Groups and Scenes, too). And I personally like scenes exposed to voice assistants, etc. as actual scenes, but there are certainly ways to do this other ways from Hubitat if desired.
But pairing specifically, probably not.

My bulbs are all singletons, so Rooms and Scenes are meaningless. This gives me hope, thanks.
I guess i never tried them once i got the hubi and they been sitting in a box since then, so i will try and pair them.
As for the extra stuff i have no use for it as i never used scenes and rarely used any colors with the exception of red for sort of an alarm of sorts.
Let me dig them out and test.
Thank you for the info i will report back later.

I'll be following what you do, so I know which default driver gets assigned in the pairing process. I think we both should be mindful of the caveats listed here, which do make me question abandoning the Hue bridge setup.
