There are a couple of threads where people claim they got their NYCE tilt sensors to work as tilt sensors using the NYCE contact sensor driver, but others (like me) could not. Does anyone know if they will be supported anytime soon? If not, what alternatives are people using to alert you when the garage door is being opened/closed? Thanks.
The iris specific tilt sensor does not work with the built in zha driver. A driver for this device will be in platform version 2.0.9
Wonderful. Thanks for the confirmation.
I paired mine NYCE (NCZ-3014-HA) tilt sensor last night on my garage door. I had to do the 10 button push reset first. Now it works great. For whatever reason the instructions are not correct for the direction it tilts....
I tried the 10 button push, and also switching the driver from NYCE motion to NYCE contact sensor, but it sill only says "open" and does not register changes in the position to the tilt. Which driver are you using? And what do you mean the instructions are not correct if "it works great"? Thanks.
I'm using the NYCE contact sensor driver. I had the same problem, the instructions show the orientation for installation but it's backwards. If I install per instructions there is no change. Rotate 180 and it works. No clue why and j didn't think to look at the previous install.
Like Mike said above the IRIS specific NYCE Tilt Sensor will not be supported until 2.0.9.
@giles you must have the Gen1 like me.
@jmiele4 you must have the Gen2 since yours works and ends with "HA".
Here is a link from IRISbyLowes that shows you how to tell if you have the Gen1 or Gen2 Tilt sensor.
I have the Gen1 and it pairs as a motion sensor and will not work until 2.0.9.
I can't see the back of the sensor since it's been superglued to the garage door, but the cover with the battery DOES have the 3 little vents, which means I do have V2, which should be pair-able with the current version, as you did. I will try again and report back.
HOLY CRAP. It WORKED!!! Trick for me was to wait a bit until after the battery was installed and there are LED flashes at all. THEN press the button 10 times giving a 1 second interval between pushes. The LED then flashes green 3 times ONLY, and then it flashes red-green-amber over and over, but you can STILL add it with the Zigbee app discovery (NOT Iris V1 Zigbee). Also, make sure you hold the sensor as instructed when testing whether it reads open or closed (meaning with the VENTS at the lower left hand corner). Hope this helps someone else. THANK YOU Philips21!!
I still have a V1 tilt sensor I can't pair (use it on a mailbox) but that can wait until they release 2.0.9
I have the gen2 tilt sensor. Before the latest update, it wouldn't report consistently of being opened or closed. Now the tilt sensor is saying opened or closed with out even moving. I tried the contact sensor driver and the new tilt sensor driver with same results. Anything I can do?
All of the various versions of this are supported and are assigned the correct driver upon joining, since you didn't specify an actual part number I don't know which one you own.
I would delete the device, factory reset it, then join it anew.
Swapping drivers around for this particular device isn't going to fix it.
Sorry. The part number is NCZ-3014-HA-HA. It auto assigns the contact sensor driver.
Yup, correct driver.
Hi mike. Thank you for getting the iris vs tilt sensor to work. Question. I have it added to my “alarmed night” profile It is listed as a contact sensor(I checked the box to have it listed as a device to monitor) but when tilt sensor is triggered to open status it does not set off alarm. ( device page shows open status) Is there something I am missing to have that work?
I just paired the IRIS NYCE Tilt Sensor after installing update 2.0.9. I don't see any option to specify if the device is open when horizontal or vertical. Am I missing something? With IRIS we had this ability.
No, we don't have that option, just mount it the way it reports properly, this is shown in the docs for the device.
I am having trouble finding documents for the tilt sensor. Where do I find this?
Thanks.
Sorry I couldn’t figure out from the thread…
I just got the 3rd gen “HA” tilt sensor is the “nyce iris tilt sensor” or the “Nyce contact sensor” the right one to use now?
It paired but just shows open, I’m using the iris driver since it’s what it auto detected.
the correct driver to use is the one that's selected when the device joins, if the driver selected is Device then you should post a question regarding which driver to use.
