Can you post a screenshot of your automation? Which app are you using for notification?

If you go to the device page for the Mobile device on your Hubitat, can you successfully send a device notification text?

tried sending from the device (motion sensor) but no luck
also tried from the phone device but no luck
think this is what u want.

That’s informative. It means your mobile device is not setup correctly in Hubitat.

looking at notifications on my phone i just get a spinning circle. my lg v60 is identified in HE as lm-V600.

I know the sensor is working cause i have another rule to turn on a light if it sees motion. that works.

A couple of (hopefully) useful questions:

  • Do you have multiple Hubitat hubs?
  • Are you connected to the HE hub in the Settings tab of the HE mobile app that is producing the notifications? (See the Settings tab of the mobile app)
  • Have you tried logging out of the mobile app and logging back in (to the appropriate HE hub)?
  • Are you on the same network as the HE hub?

Next port of call (for me) is likely support, but let's see where we get with these questions first...

only 1 HE
connected to myhubitat in settings
same network
will log out and reconnect
no change
even removed and reinstalled HE mobile

the sensor sends a trigger and my light comes on
as my test setup
but never any kind of notification ... really wierd

Maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't look like you have a device specified that is supposed to receive the text "Mailbox Opened".

When you select "Text Notifications" the next pop up gives you a dialog box to type in your message, directly above that box (might be slightly different in a browser) is a drop down menu where you need to select your device that is supposed to receive the notification.

i double checked that and made sure it was going to LM-v600

i may have to try pushover but hate having to.pay for another app just for a notification. right now i just have a lite that comes on for 2 min. will change that to a color bulb as my indicator when my bulbs arrive if I cannot get notifications working.
seems like that should be a major thing since a lot of different sensors would need to notify me if there is an issue.

Have you modified that rule since you posted the screen shot because if you haven't then the device is definitely not selected. Should look something like this

heres my rule:

Interesting, have you tried turning on debug logging for your phone/device and then try to send a test notification from the phone device page?

and if i look at the event log for devices-lm-v600 i see what appears to be it receiving the notification but that is a really clunky way to see a notification

try loggin out of the app and back in on your phone.

been there tried that. tried poshover and got immediate notification. guess for $5 i ca
n live with it this way

Did you ever watching the logs after turning on debug logging?

next stop would be remove phone device in hub.. go in app double check you have notifications enable or even better remove the app and reinstall it and log in and it should prompt you for notifications enabled and the app should also ask you to setup your phone on first log in..

well just fyi finally got notifications working and emails as well using pushover. i guess for $5 it is worth it.
tnx for all the help just sorry i couldn't get HE notification working natively.
