If one uses a non-dimmable led on a dimmer switch is there any bad consequences?
no bad nsequences that I can think of. (I mean it won't burn down your house or burn the switch) Normally though if it tries to dim, nothing happens until the switch gets to about 50 percent then the light turns off. Also the bulb could not work at all as the ballast is the looking for specific line voltage or the switch itself doesn't get proper voltage feedback (not the proper term but the simpler one) from the bulb and erratic things can happen such as bulb flashing on and off, or a hum etc... your best bet is to see if your manufacturer has a list of compatible bulbs dimmable or not
Don’t actually need the bulb to dim. Full on, full off is fine. Just wondered if it was going to burn the bulb out. Only switch I have is dimmable and didn’t have a dimmable bulb. I’ll just give it a try.
