No support for Accessory Switches?

Hi All,

  1. I've been trying to get my Eaton RF9517 Z-Wave Accessory Switches to operate, but they refuse to do anything. HE does not support them directly so I have to install then as a Generic Z-Wave device. HE installs them as Type: Device. I manually retype them to Type: Generic Z-Wave Switch and press Configure, but the switch still does nothing.

Oddly, after I retype it to Type: Generic Z-Wave Switch, my RF9501 Z-Wave Master Switches still install and work normally.
It's a little bit strange because except for the load relay, Master Switches and Accessory Switches should be electronically the same. No big deal because I am upgrading all my Z-Wave to Z-Wave Plus, but it's a slow job. Z-Wave Plus Accessory Switches are supported.

  1. I was using the Accessory Switches to create 3-way and 4-way associations with my Master Switches using Direct Association, but HE does not support Associations. What is the HE recommended way to create 3-way and 4-way associations?

Edit: Nevermind, looks like this is really Z-Wave.

How are you adding them? As far as I can tell, they are just "accessory" switches (like "aux" or "add on" switches in some other manufacturers' terminology) and are not Z-Wave devices themselves; they just communicate with the other switch, and that's where all the Z-Wave and other smarts live. There isn't anything special you should need to do to set this up, Hubitat or elsewhere, besides wiring ad the manufacturer requires (and possibly some programming they suggest in the manual).

Basing this on what I found by searching for this model: https://www.eaton.com/content/dam/eaton/products/wiring-devices-and-connectivity/wiring-devices/switches/aspire-rf-acessory-switch-spec-sheet.pdf?assetID=gmoney

The 9517 is a "remote switch" in zwave speak.

Sorry, I was confused above. Looks like there's an "Eaton Accessory Switch" driver for this device. I believe this lets you configure association if the main device is using the correct driver. Does that work?

Yes. These switches were designed for Direct Association only. They do not work in a hard wired configuration.

Was this ever solved? I'm moving over to c-8 from c-4. Back then I used a aoetec minimote to make a direct association. I see when you include the master switch/dimmer you can chose Eaton switch or dimmer respectively and when you include the accessory you can choose accessory switch or dimmer. Doing so allows you to make a connection between the devices which allows you to control the master device using the accessory through the habitat UI.

That's great,....BUT....a physical pressing of the accessory device does nothing for me- No on/off, no dimming. What am I missing here? How does this get resolved?
