No Feedback from Linkind Matter Smart Plugs

I have a bunch of Linkind Matter Smart Plugs that I would like to integrate with HE. I’ve tested these with Apple Home and Home Assistant and they work great. According to the packaging they also work with Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings.

However, when I add them to HE, I can control the smart plug but I get no feedback unless I send a refresh. It doesn’t matter whether I send an on/off command from the HE web UI or physically turn the plug on/off using the button on the device. Feedback on the smart plug’s current state never updates without a refresh command.

Any way to address this? The plugs are detected by HE as a Generic Matter Multi-Endpoint Switch. I’ve tried changing the Type to Generic Matter Switch and Generic Matter Outlet but the exact same thing occurs; control but no feedback.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have quite a few of these and proper feedback is a necessity.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I’m afraid I have no answer but by adding this “not-the-same-for-me’ I hope to give hope that there’s a solution…

I purchased a pack of 4 of these:

And 3 of them are added to one hub (C-8Pro), the 4th is on a different hub (C-8). All of them work ‘correctly’. The driver I’m using is the built-in ‘Generic Matter Outlet’.

I’m not sure how you got them added to your hub(s) but in my case, I used Apple Home then got the pairing code to add them to Hubitat. Coincidentally, this morning I added the 4th outlet to Home Assistant. No idea why I did it, just wanted to know if I could and how hard it would be, I presume.

Anyway, even after all that, the outlet is controllable via Apple, Hubitat and HA with feedback.

Thanks @csteele . I also added the plugs to Apple Home first and then added them to Home Assistant and finally added them to HE by creating another pairing code in Apple Home.

Are you saying that you get feedback? I do have control, just no feedback.

I have about half a dozen of these plugs that match yours (B-Type). I also have some brand new ones that I ordered just the other day (before I knew that there was a problem using these with HE) and these don’t say B-Type on the plug.

Thanks

yes, I get feedback:

I suppose you have already restarted your hub at least once after adding the Matter plugs?

What happens if you click on the initialize() button on the device web page? Enable the debug logging before that, what do you see on the live logs?

Thanks @csteele and @kkossev .

Only a few days ago I updated my C-8 to the latest firmware and the hub goes through a reboot as part of that process. I would have said I had restarted my hub after adding the Matter plugs. After reading your post, @kkossev , I decided to take it one step further. So, I powered down the hub and plugged it back in. Now the Matter plugs are working fine and providing feedback.
Thanks though I’m now wondering if I should create a system where power on my C-8 gets cycled once a month at 2am.
Thanks again

Well this is even stranger. I actually found that it is a mixed bag. Some of the Matter plugs provided feedback and some still don’t. I pulled one of the plugs that wouldn’t provide feedback, removed it from HE, removed it from Apple Home, reinitialized the plug by holding the power button in, re-added it to Apple Home, and re-added it to HE. Now it provides feedback. I guess I’m going to have to test each one to see which ones work and which don’t. At least I have a path to success.

Thanks

If you still have plugs that do not automatically report the on/off state, can you do the above?

Hi @kkossev

When I first ran into this problem I swapped out most of these Matter smart plugs for some old Sonoff Zigbee plugs I had sitting around to get my system working. I have one left in production that I haven’t tested yet. If that one doesn’t work I’ll report back to you with the logging information when I hit the initialize button. I’m in the midst of things so that may take a few days.

Thanks again for your help

I’ve added several more of these switches into my system.

  1. After plugging one in I hold the button on the plug in until it resets

  2. I add the plug to Apple Home by scanning the QR code and then pair it with HE

  3. I change the device type from Generic Matter Multi-Endpoint Switch to Generic Matter Switch.

Then they work just fine with full control and feedback.

Sorry @kkossev I don’t have a failed one to send you logging information for.

Thanks to everyone for their help
