Night mode keeps activating during the day

If it is daytime and Day Mode is active and then I leave the house, so Away mode becomes active, as soon as I return I would expect Day Mode to activate if its still daytime but Night mode always activates instead. Any ideas on why this is happening or how to prevent?

Can you post a screen grab of your Mode Manager settings? That would help in troubleshooting it.

How are you setting the various modes?Mode manager? Rule machine 4?
Perhaps you could supply screenshots or maybe more info on how you are doing it.
Personally iInever have any issues using Mode Manager. :crossed_fingers:
Here's a snapshot of mine for reference.

Ok, I see the problem. You need to have the mode based on presence match your time settings in mode based on time of day. Since you don't have the time settings in there, it's defaulting to the first mode that matches the condition (Day mode, since it is first).

If you look at mine, I have specified times for when presence changes from AWAY to what mode it should be set to.
You have specified when the mode changes if you are home, but not when you return home. If that makes sense.

@bobbles, In your screen cap, what is the Virtual Sensor? Are you combining presence sensors?

Change the x:59 to the next hour. The reason being (and I fell victim to this too) is that if you happen to arrive at 5:59 PM, the mode will get messed up. Beyond that, you should be golden!

Thank you!! Will do!

Yes. I used to play quite a bit to get what was the most reliable presence sensor. To save keep changing Mode Manager I had rules that I could change with the different sensors. Life360, Tado, Locative, Phone, I've tried then all and combinations of them.
I just change the presence sensor in a couple of rules to save changing Mode Manager and my various announcement and presence rules. Just seemed easier at the time.

That makes perfect sense. For my wife and I, we have a total of 8 presence sensors (Life360, ST Presence Dongles, Hubitat App, and Wifi) (plus 1 for guests). I might have to try that at some point, although lately (fingers crossed and knocking on huge pieces of wood), Life360 has been rock solid for us above all the others.
