Did you try "shutdown hub" (not reboot) and unplug the power cord after the light turns red for 30 seconds?
@waynespringer79 No that one I did not try. I can try that shortly.
Occasionally the zwave radios get stuck on these hubs, and a power cycle fixes it
You will want to use a laptop or mobile device to do this right at the switch. So here is what I do (and yes it takes multiple attempts):
- Open a browser tab to HE logs
- Open a browser tab to HE settings, Zwave Settings
- Start HE in ZWave exclusion mode
- Switch to logs tab
- on GE/Zooz device exclude based on manufacturer recommendations (Zooz toggles are 3 semi-fast down as an example).
- Watch in the logs for a Hub device to appear; if it appears click on it and you should see a "Unknown device has been excluded"
- Repeat exlude procedure on device with 3-4 second breaks between each attempt. If nothing shows up after 20-30 seconds
- If nothing start the process again at the ZWave exclusion part.
Note: do not go around and exclude each device. Work on one device at a time as your mesh will build out and get stronger making additional additions to your mesh easier. After the device successfully excludes go through the procedure of adding to HE. Zooz device sometimes hangs up...meaning HE discovers but doesn't complete before the 60 seconds expires. If this happens give it another minute or so. If nothing finishes then unfortunately you have to go through the exclusion process again.
Again this is an issue with just the GE/Zooz wall switches. The outlets, plugs, contact sensors, motion sensors all pair very quickly and without issues. Also the newer Zooz Zen 26/27 devices pair up VERY fast without these headaches. Lastly, keep in mind this is a Zooz/GE issue and not a HE issue. I had these same issues with SmartThings and was even worse when I used Hass.IO (due to lack of a strong zwave implementation).
Hope this helps!
Ok so I went ahead and added some more switches. Older GE switches (non dimmers)
Now the lights function almost Everytime which I can live with.
Another question. I added all of the switches (3 GE switches, 1 fan controller and 1 Zooz dimmer) to a dashboard.
Can you tell me how to make the Zooz dimmer and the fan change colors when they are on like the GE switches do?
Is there an article for the dashboard you can point me too?
The little gear icon in the top right of the dashboard, after clicking you can then select templates then choose which template the switch is on (i.e. dimmer) then you can select a color of your choice for on and off...
