New Zooz switch - audible click when power switched?

I just installed my first smart switch - a Zooz ZEN76. When I press it on or off, I hear a different click that isn't just the click of the button - and "on" and "off" are different sounds.

I hear these same clicks when I control it remotely via z-wave. Is this normal? My normal dumb switch doesn't make any additional noise when turning on/off. Is something off (I followed their provided and personalized wiring instructions) or are all smart switches like this for some reason?

It is normal. It is the sound of the relay inside clicking back and forth. I'm just getting into this stuff myself; but all my on/off switches have audible clicks. The dimming switches I've used do not make the clicking sound.

The dumb switch does not make a click sound because you are manually moving the switch back and forth between the contacts to create the on/off bridge. The smart device needs an "actuator" to replicate; hence the relay.

Yes, can confirm, normal on most of the switches. The dimmers have different components so may not have the click, some some of mine do click occasionally.

Interesting. Hopefully I just get used to the sound and it fades into the background. Certainly a bit unexpected!

I have a room with 12+ or so that come on in a scene and you can hear them. LOL I really like it however because I have quite lights that switch on with motion. In HE sound is sometimes faster than light. It allows me to not slow down as I know the lights are to follow.

You will get used to it. It is normal for on-off smart switches. Good choice on the Zooz Zen76. I have several and they work great.

One of the reasons I love my Lutron stuff. Quiet...Now the ge outlets I have, yeah they click from the relay.

Any idea on which last longer-switches or dimmers?
