New User, Moving from Wink and need Help with setup

Connect it to the D-Link switch. Does your Verizon router have an IP assignment table which indicates the IP address assigned to the Hubitat?

Blue indicates the factory recovery didn't happen.

Okay, i'll try that now.

It does have connection lists but not great for figuring out which is the hubitat - i've been able to figure it out by doing the advanced find by IP address in the hubitat portal. It'll show up there using that method, but can't try anything with it.

That's good. But here's something else that might help. Does your Verizon router display the MAC address next to each assigned DHCP address? The MAC address of both my HE start with "34:e1:d1:80". I think the MAC address is also on the bottom the HE. So using that you should be able to determine the IP address assigned by the router to the HE.

It does, I found it in there now that I look again.

Also - progress? Connected it to the switch, when I went to Find Hub in the portal it found it using the normal search. Clicked on the "Found a New Hub" button, and it loaded a page...but the page is titled Hubitat Update Tool & notes that the update failed.

It's still completing the update very fast and i'm getting that error screen still when trying to add the hub.

When it applies the update, how are you shutting the hub down?

It's not giving me options for shutting it down really. I tried using the shutdown command just now and it failed - i've just now removed power from it for 30 seconds.

You need to go to:

http://yourHubIP:8081/

The shutdown command is on that menu.

Also, are you doing this from a private browser window. Finally, what is the error message when the shutdown command failed.

Okay, just did a factory recover, and then after that was able to successfully go back to the hub and issue the shutdown command. Now it's giving the "Found a New Hub" button in the Find Hubs section, but can't connect at all.

When the shutdown command failed previously it would throw a error 401.

And yes, i'm trying this in private windows in firefox.

What happens if you use the IP address directly? And can you confirm that the IP address is the one assigned by your router?

IP is the same as what the router assigns. When I try to go to the IP directly, it fails. Only going to :8081 of it works.

Okay if only 8081 works, it means the factory recovery hasn't happened. It either isn't downloading or it isn't being applied.

If it doesn't turn green, something is wrong with the unit, and you'll have to receive instructions from support@hubitat.com.

The two key things from the browser perspective are:

  1. Make sure you use a supported browser (I know Chrome/Safari are, I know IE is not)
  2. Use a private browsing window

No luck unfortunately. Appreciate the assistance! I'll have to e-mail support.

Yup. Sorry it didn't work.

I'm tagging @bobbyD here. Hopefully he'll see it.
