New user, connection? Dashboard? Android App?

Morning all,

Let me first explain. I have had my Hubitat for a few weeks, now but haven't done much with it as all my devices are Wifi. I have these loaded in via the Kasa App, and have seen success turning things off and off manually. I had schedules created and running via the Kasa app on my phone. Yesterday decided "it was time".

So I created my first rule and after some trial and error realized what was wrong. After unsuccessfully turning on outdoor light as sunset, but realized this was tied to a wrong timezone set. This was corrected, and further testing managed to watch lights turn off at 2 different times I specified.

Today I awake and find my outdoor lights are still on after sunrise. This prompted me to get online and manually adjust. First look, I find from my phone the app seems to not cause any action. Even now I sit where I can see the lights outside and have attempted to turn ON the dashboard tells me it's on, the event log states it was turned on, but the physical light remains OFF.

I realize this is a long post with a wide scope, but is there a video or article I should be looking to?

How about posting a screenshot of the Rule? You can use the picture icon (right in the center of the reply toolbar) to post screenshot pictures without having to post an external link.

Oh, and welcome to the community!

I am guessing I'm too new of a user to be able to embed like that. Can't link to the image either... I suppose all in due time.

In fiddling around more I think I know why... under my settings / hub details, I found this.

Current Hub Time (as of last page load)

2022-12-18 2:53:08 PM PST
Update from browser

Time Zone Canada/Pacific
Time Format 12 Hour
Sunrise 9:53 PM
Sunset 10:00 AM

This tells me the hub feels sunset is 10:00 AM and sunrise will be 9:53 PM. I am positive this is the problem. The first problem I eluded to earlier was that my time zone was set to GMT, but I am in Pacific zone. I did correct that yesterday, but still the sunset / sunrise is messed up. My actual sun rise this morning was 8:01 AM.

All better!!! needed to add Long / Lat information, the fact was empty was resorting to GMT. I now see 8:01 am sunrise... tomorrow should be better
