I just saw on Reddit that SiLabs released new firmware for the 700 chip called v17.18.1. If this is true, any idea when it will be available on the C7?
It is 7.18.1, not 17.
I don't think there's been any word from hubitat when the next Z-Wave firmware update will be. Typically they wait until there is a sound technical reason to do so.
There are updates to the Z-Wave firmware released all the time, and hubitat does not qualify all of them for good reasons. Some have brand new bugs (unfortunately, not that uncommon), some only have minor fixes that aren't that useful, some only add features that the hub doesn't support, etc.
That said 7.18.1 seems to be a pretty good update, and is working well on other hubs that can use it.
My guess, with zero actual inside information, is that we will get the next firmware update if and when the hub supports Z-Wave LR. In fact, they would have to upgrade firmware if they were going to support LR in the future, that's why that's my guess.
From what has been said publicly, Hubitat is evaluating updated firmware.
My suspicion is they will wait for the bugfixes for this major Z-wave update before releasing it to end users. I think they are wise to wait a bit after firmware is released, there have been so many bugs in previous firmware updates. In other words, this latest update has no history as to its reliability or suitability for release, so waiting a bit might be prudent.
