New puppy rule help 🐩

I want to create a rule that sends a pushover notification every time my new puppy wees. I thought I would use a virtual switch exposed to Alexa to trigger by voice the notification. I would need it to reset after triggering so it ready to go for the next wee.

This rule would help me keep track of when she last went to the toilet.

Any help or suggestions most appreciated

I already have pushover setup for other notifications.

Thank you

I don't understand all of it. I get the trigger but not much else.

What's a pushover--do you mean a push event of some kind? If so, to what?

What do you want it to do with each trigger event?

Here’s what I would do.

Create a virtual switch using the System Virtual Switch driver, and setup an auto-off:

Setup a rule:

Trigger: Switch turning on

Action: Mesage sent to Pushover

Thanks!

I'm unclear as to the need for an external notification service vs. Hubitat built-in notifications for this scenario.

There's none other than some of us simply prefer Pushover as a more flexible and reliable notification solution (compared to built-in).

Fair enough. :+1: I'll set it up and find out a little more.

I haven't personally found the built-in notification capability flakey and use it daily. Of course, it doesn't queue or guarantee delivery or log, or support confirmations, etc., though, but it is free. $5 is $5.
