We had a litter of puppies earlier in the year that came down with ringworm. Needless to say, we deep-cleaned the house for about a month (H2O2 is incredibly effective at eliminating ringworm). That was right before we put the UV light in. Needless to say, we haven't had any issues since. We do still need to get the ducts cleaned, which will probably come this fall. With all the rescue work we do we have bee come quite adept at Clinical Cleaning.
Oh yeah, we also ripped out all the carpet and replacd it with luxury Vinyl Tile. that helped a lot too.
Respect... Both for your dedication to helping the animals in your care... but also keeping your house clean for them... I can't event do that enough for one...
If nothing else I would expect a raw material (of sorts) would help in the hotter weather...
Thank you. it's a labor of love. No doubt there are moments you feel somewhat defeated, there are so many animals that need help. but it's also rewarding when you see an animal find their forever home, and extremely rewarding when you see them come back from the brink and make a full recovery. Both of our current fosters were mangy, infected, neglected, and beaten down just two months ago. Both are almost ready for their trip to Montana and a new life! They have been very rewarding to watch them recover and begin to thrive!
They are definitely lucky to have found a kind home... Seems a little sappy to call it out, but it's true that they have had a rough start, but found the right people to set them on the right path...
Received my KAMRUI Mini PC today. So far impressed by the experience. My first Windows 11 "PC".
Relatively quick and easy to setup, made somewhat easier with Google's ability to sync various things like Chrome Bookmarks and plugins.
Will try and be a little more organised with setting this up, e.g. trying to keep things clean and backed up where necessary.
Next job wil be to crack open the laptop and take a look at the battery
So did I (Beelink). Pretty happy with it. They are available in varying levels of horsepower and can be pretty capable.
Nice.... It can be interesting to prompt discussions like these, you never know what you (or others) may get out of them...
Yes, I actually got mine last October. I was exploring new options at the time just like you. I started looking at these minis and reading reviews and thought it might be worth a try. Amazing little boxes.
My first involvement with Mini's in general was at my last job, not in a major way... We had a NUC velcro'd behind a TV mounted on the wall to showcase the dashboards we were building (dashboards in a Business Intelligence sense, not automation / control). So I was aware there were small Windows equivalents to Raspberry Pi's..., but did not have them in mind to replace my laptop. Was considering a Lenovo laptop, but would likely have been up for 3-4 times the price of the Mini I bought, so am happy so far with my choice.
I did that too.
Got the Beelink for home desktop, and a Lenovo T16 for work. Happy with both.
Which one did you go with ? I'm running Windows 11 on my laptop, which was originally a Windows 8 (right at the transition to 10) machine.
What are your thoughts on these? I've been looking at Beelink for a while now. I just kind question if they can do what I'm going to be looking to do (photo editing) .
The description on Amazon for mine is:
KAMRUI Mini PC,Mini Computer Tower Intel i5-11320H(Up to 4.5 GHz), Mini Desktop Computer Windows 11 Pro,4C/8T,16GB DDR 512GB M.2 SSD (Up to 2TB), 4K U
The link to the Aus version is:
There was a significant discount applied to mine, a discount of about $230 (AUD), taking it down to just under $500.
It came with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed.I have applied updates since setting it up, currently running (weirdly) 10.0.22621:
I have seen people post about issues with EventGhost and Win 11, so will need to see if I can get that to work.
In terms of Beelink... It wasn't so much that I spent any meaningful amount of time researching and comparing them.... I think I just looked for alternatives and took a liking to the aesthetics of the KAMRUI case, taking the view that similar specs are just that, and as long as I was happy with those, it came down to aesthetics once you had comparable components inside. So I wouldn't suggest my choice of KAMRUI over Beelink is off the back of some extensive research,
The fact I can play Quake with no major issues also give me hope I can try and re-purchase Command and Conquer and actually load it this time Funny how old games can still cause issues on much more recent tech....
Many hours of my youth lost to these games.
Lol i purchased most of them again when i got my kid his alienware. He had zero interest. It made me sad lol.
Yeah, I did find it funny that Mum and Dad's Pentium could run C&C 1 and Red Alert, but for some reason my 2014 i7 couldn't load it... hoping that won't be the case on my new mini PC.
@sburke781 , just checking in to see how you are liking this after a few months with it. I'm probably going to be looking for a new computer shortly, and this is on my radar. What are your thoughts on it? would you do it again? or wish you had done something else?
As a PC I don't have any issues with it, it does everything I need which is mostly browsing in Chrome, some programming in VSCode and the odd retro game.
My main gripe is the fan noise, which is rather annoying most of the time. I do have the mini-pc sitting in front of me on the desk, so plan to use the monitor vesa mount to attach it to the wall behind the desk, which may help. I also tend to have headphones on, which helps.
I'll admit I didn't do a lot of research, so can't say I had a compelling case for this over another. But if you have narrowed it down to a couple, and they have similar spec's / reviews, the fan noise would be enough for me to say pick another PC. If this is sitting out on its own and has something you need, then you may be able to look at options to make the noise less.
