But how to, for example add my "garage door open/closed" door sensor to the "security" group along with the locks? Security is more than locks, so the status of the garage and the gate to the backyard and the pool are things to add. Yes, I know this is a dashboard issue, and that the default "home screen" is not a dashboard, but this is a simple variable in the database, much more simple than the device name text parsing that seems to control what devices are included in what group in the header of the home page.
