New Guy Here

I'm working on setting up my Hubitat and all of the devices. I'm a bit confused on how to add my Zwave, Zigabee, Lutron, devices. When I go to the add devices, and select zwave/zigbee, it just spins and never shows anything. Do I need to put the devices into pairing mode to get them to be recognized? A lot of the devices that I'm using with ST never needed to be, they were just detected.

I was able to add my Hue lights, and the ecobee's and Life 360 devices, but a majority are Lutron switches, Pico remotes, Levitron switches, dimmers, ST sensors, and outlets.

Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way. If there is a video or tutorial I've missed, that would answer the questions, I'd appreciate it.

You have to initiate all existing devices into pairing mode.

ZWave:

  • You need to exclude these devices from ST. Also I have found that existing devices need to be excluded in HE for them to join HE successfully. Else they can get into a stuck state or HE refuses to see them.

Zigbee - just remove from ST first. Then put them into pairing mode but near the Hub. If a Zigbee device is far away from the HE then you will need to ensure there are Zigbee repeaters through-our your home.

Lurton - you have to load the Lutton app

For Lutron, you must use a minimum of a Caseta SmartBridge Pro. The non-pro model does not support Telnet, which is how Hubitat communicates with the Lutron bridge.

Thats not really true, zigbee and z-wave devices always have to be in pairing mode to join a new hub, ST is no different than any other.

Maybe when you pulled the battery tab for the first time on many of hour devices they automatically went into pairing mode when you added them to ST?

Unless you're referring to devices that connect over the LAN. ST did institute an auto-discover function for devices that connect that way.
