New device won't initialize

Was able to create an account, update the device, set time and location and then chose "reboot device" to be sure all those settings took effect. The "reboot" is stuck at 70%. Unplugged and plugged back in and is not stuck again at 70% initializing...for well over an hour. Suggestions?

can you connect to the hub via port 8081? (in your browser, go to hub_ip:8081) and perform a soft reset

Tried that :This site can’t be reached. Check if there is a typo in hub_ip."

However, I am able to log into the router and see the device connected on the specified ip as well as MAC address but oddly enough it has my "daughters name-s-S10" I don't know if that is some portable device that might have connected to my network when she was visiting but odd that it has same MAC address. She does not own a Hubitat.

I am not that familiar with this router. I can "clear" this device but did that and nothing seemed to change.

@dadarkgtprince meant you should enter your hub’s actual IP address, not “hub_ip.”

So in my hub’s case, I would type 192.168.1.49:8081 in a browser and hit enter.

That is how the hub’s diagnostic interface can be reached, which is often working even in situations like the one you’re describing.

Can you reach the hub that way?

You could also try entering hubitat.local:8081

yes and was able to soft reset. Thank you. Will see now if it works? Guess I'll get to download the latest update again and start over. Thankfully, I hadn't spent too much time before encountering the problem.

no worries. definitely hope your experience only gets better from here. i would be frustrated if i got a new toy to play with and within 5 minutes it freezes up. hopefully it works. if it doesn't, and if you haven't paired any devices yet, you could do a hard reset to restore to factory settings and start over

If your hub seems to be frozen or unreachable, but it has a green light on, always worth trying to access the hub on the diagnostic interface port before doing anything else.

Pulling power to the hub without shutting down first should generally be a last resort, as it can cause some corruption.

How are you powering the hub, btw?
