New batteries and still shows 20%

The battery in the door lock suddenly went from 60% to showing low 20%, so I installed new batteries and it still shows 20%.

The battery level % has been working well since it was new a few years ago.

The device is Quickset Smartcode 914, but the hub identified it as a Schlage FE599/BE369

Ive had a few devices like that. It has to wake up next event to report I believe. I would wait till tomorrow to look at it and see how it is. I would also switch to the generic z-wave lock driver instead (don't forget to click configure after clicking save) Seems to report better.

Give it some time. If it still say that in 24 hours make sure you have the right driver.

Thank you for the reply.
I had noticed before it needs an event to wake it up
I left it overnight and we have come and gone a few times using the lock which works fine. It just flashes red that the battery is low.

Is there a way to reset the lock without messing up all the Hubitat settings?

It has been working fine for years.

The lock locks & unlocks from the computer & iPhone
The lock reports back to the computer & iPhone that the lock is locked & unlocked

It is on generic Z-wave

Are you absolutely sure the replacement batteries are good? There's also the case if you go from one shots to rechargeables, the rechargeables have lower voltage/ma/mw characteristics and that might cause issues if its expecting alkalines. Especially since the lock driver/app might not have been written to accept them and identify the differences.

Might be an idea to invest in a battery tester.

So it’s not just that the battery percentage is still showing as low on the device’s settings page in the Hubitat UI?

But the lock itself is indicating the battery is still low with a red flashing LED?

Only use new alkaline batteries
These are Duracell dated 2031 from a newly opened the package.
Batteries, usually last almost a year
These ones were at 60% just a few weeks ago, then suddenly they were 40 and 20% in just a few days.
I have replaced them twice in the last two days to make sure they weren’t just a set of defective batteries
Thank you for the feedback

Yes, the inside light flashes red, and when we unlock the door, the keypad flashes red.

Do these Kwikset locks have a known issue with the battery life indicator failing?

Thank you for your response
I appreciate the help

Do you have a multimeter?

A brand new AA battery should read about 1.65 volts DC.

The fact that your lock indicates a low battery signal (red flash on keypad) suggests that either your batteries are not ok, or that something is wrong with the lock causing it drain batteries rapidly.

A multimeter would help you distinguish between those possibilities.

In terms of resetting the lock, do you have a C-5 hub or a C-7 hub?

I will have to get a multimeter
And do some research to find out what the hub is
Thank you for the lead
Much appreciated
