Been playing around with my new hub for the past week and reading as much as I can on this forum. Although I'm finding some very helpful information I am still confused and having trouble figuring out a couple a basic automations. Any guidance is much appreciated...
- I would like to create a lighting scene for entertaining that would set all the lights in the house to certain levels. I understand the Capture function but not sure how best to control it. I am thinking of creating a sub dashboard for various scenes and being able to activate them via my wall mounted tablet and/or Alexa. How would I go about doing this? Would I create a visual switch? If so would it be a momentary switch and how would I create a momentary switch?
If someone where to turn a light off while the scene was active what would happen? Would that light stay off? Would pressing the scene switch/button again reset it?
I assume I would create a second scene called say "normal mode" to return the house to the pre entertaining mode?
- Kinda along the same lines... I would like to have a group of lights come on when either a sensor is activated or a button/switch is pushed on a tablet. Example. Come home in the evening and have certain lights come on that lead to the kitchen when the garage door tilt sensor is activated. Another example; have a good morning button/switch on the dashboard to activate a series of events.
I've tried to get these automations to work using Rule Machine, Groups and Scenes, and attempted to create a virtual switch. Can't seem to get it working.
Again appreciate any advice. This seems like it should be pretty straight forward and simple.
