I have five Tuya-based Neo water presence devices in my network. They paired easily and seem to be working fine. My issue is that they refuse to use a local Zigbee repeater (typically an Eaton Halo RL56 light) to interface with the network. They only connect to my C7 hub directly. This makes their comms with the hub very sporadic, which is not the best for a water leak sensor.
I'm currently using the Tuya NEO Coolcam driver from the HPM, and it's not great, but it does seem to work OK.
Is there any way to get these sensors to work with the Zigbee mesh? I know they don't have the power to be repeaters themselves, but they should be able to use the other repeaters, I would hope.
I already use the built in Zigbee Network Graph, and it clearly shows the sensors going direct to Hub.
You're saying that this one will let me choose a repeater, but I'm concerned that the sensors themselves have some limitation that prevents this, otherwise they would be doing it already.
Not necessarily. I've had issues with a couple of devices which are quite a way from the hub and they never chose to use a repeater. They were very flakey.
Forced them to use a repeater that was nearest to them and they now work OK.
Who knows why???? Certainly beyond my extremely limited knowledge......
