Need suggestions .. going crazy!

C8-.119
hardwired nic. - zigbee on chan-17 / wifi on 1-6

Sooo .. I have a question ?

Why do you guys think all my devices have such a bad connection to each other ?
I have a small house -1200sf all switches and plugs are on the 1st floor.
90% of my automation are plugs that have repeaters. and my maps shows way to many bad connections i think away .. lots are red or yellow .. very few are blue to green :frowning:
I have a lot of problems with my setup ..
Plugs loosing connection / slow response times and or stop working.
battery operated remotes and buttons loosing connection / slow response times and or stop working.

Really .. Need some suggestions here guys .. driving me crazy.
Seriously considering dumping my C8. and getting some other hub.
I've spent way too much time trying to fix this stuff. when everyone's else's systems seem to work.

Those are not relavent u misreading it. Those are all neighbors and connections to each neighbor . Which has norhing tlo do with which path is actually being used.

Since you have a small house, there may be some wifi - zigbee coexistance issues. This can impact Zigbee devices and any wifi devices (i.e., your hub). Something to investigate. See link below:

17 is not a great channel choice w/ wifi on 1-6 (see below) - I'd go channel 25 (or at least 20).

I changed channel 2.4 to ( 1 )
I changed channel 5g to ( 40 )
was set to ..

I will try chan-25 for the HUB

Any Thing Else ?

5g doesnt matter . Only 2.4

Well you would think so ..
But it sure seems having a bandwidth of : 20/40/80/160 < seems kinda big?
And having the Hub on 17-20-25 is really close ? to that ? IDK .. grabbing at straws at this point.

Maybe it because the hub and wifi router are in the same room ? ( office )
I could try and move the hub .. but then I would have to use wifi on the hub to connect it.
I do not have a cat5 run to other places .. The hub is about 6-8 ft away however from the router ..

The WiFi and ZigBee overlap is likely the primary cause with their distance from each other being secondary.

The 2.4 GHz band of WiFi is the only one that overlaps with ZigBee. Having WiFi on channel 1 (regardless of selected bandwidth) and ZigBee on 20 will just about eliminate frequency interference.

Some light toilet reading for anyone interested.

Have you tried doing firmware updates on your devices? I found that my detached garage bulbs worked much better after updating the firmware of other devices in the house.

Yes .. thanks .. I have updated the ones that have a update

Well Ok .. have set channel for the wifi to ( 1 )
and did the hub to channel ( 20 ) < thats always fun ..
had to repair all the batt ( 5 ) button remotes and three light switches
Guess we will see if this helps .. thanks for the tips guys.

I think I recall reading on here somewhere that it takes a little time (day or two?) to settle after switching Zigbee channels.

Well, after trying to change some of this stuff. as far as channels for hub and Wi-Fi.
And decided to update the hub to : 2.3.8.125 and was still having slow Response times.
And a few of the 4-button remotes were still acting weird at times. ( WAF Not Not Happy )
I was looking at my map. and had so many red connections.

I was trying to figure out a way to fix that..
I have been using all THIRDREALITY Zigbee Smart Plugs / Repeaters.
So I went and got these Smart Plug / Repeater's. ( On Sales btw ( 4 ) for $45.00 )

And they seem to work way better than the THIRDREALITY Zigbee Smart Plugs / Repeaters.

The system seems way more stable now. since updating and changing just. 4 of the repeaters
And my zigbee map kind of shows that with way less red connections now.. More on the way!

Hopefully everything stays that way for a while. The wife is getting pissy and so am I !
Thanks again for all the suggestions. but I hopefully. just changing out some of the repeaters will have a better effect. Only time will tell ...
