Need help selecting a wall switch

I'm on a quest to find the perfect wall switch for controlling my hue lights manually, currently ive found limited success with ge enbrighten wall switches which I've left the relay output unconnected on and am using hubitat to read the state of the switch and push it to hue but this lacks dimming control, I noticed they sell a dimmer version which will be arriving tomorrow but im not sure if ill be able to pull the dimmer level off the device and i was hoping someone else with similar requirements had already found a perfect product.

Requirements: 1: Prefer zigbee, will use z wave if i absolutely have no other option
2: No batteries, must run off line voltage
3: Needs to be able to dim up and down and turn on and off

  1. Do you have the lights on hubitat or the hue bridge?
  2. If they are on the bridge, do you need the switch to be visible in hubitat?

If you are not in a hurry, I understand that Inovelli is planning to come out with a Zigbee dimmer at some point soon. I suspect it would meet your requirements, but not sure when it will be available…

all bulbs are connected to a hue bridge which is linked to hubitat over ethernet. The switches dont need to be visible in hubitat if they make a line voltage dimmer that pairs directly to hubitat that will work for me.

pairs directly to hue hub** these forums need an edit function

The lutron aurora dimmer works pretty well directly on the hue bridge. It is battery powered and attaches over a standard switch, locked into the on position.

yea im actually currently using those in about 80% of my house trying to get away with them, someone in my house has club hands and keep breaking them somehow and the batteries are cancer.

No rush, would you happen to be talking about their blue series?

Yes, those are the one. There’s more information on their forum.

GE Jasco 45080 is on the List of Compatible Devices. features:
Zigbee 3.0 (pairs directly to Hubitat)
Can be used in 3-way installations
Smaller than some other ones
Not for Fans (most are not)
Requires neutral wire
Available at Amazon (in US) with good return policies).

Ok so i figured it out! To anyone else trying to do something similar I ended up using the GE enbrighten dimmer switch (comes in zw and zb) (make sure you get the dimmer version not the switch version) . So I have the switches hooked up to neutral and live with the bulb constantly supplied with power. The triac output on the ge light switch will not be used and is not connected to anything. The switch then broadcasts its status to hubitat and using an app called "mirror" im able to forward any changes made by the light switch directly to the bulb through the hue hub.

So in summary i have a normal style light switch (stops guests from being confused) with on, off and dimming control that uses no batteries to control smart lights and it also has an option to make the switch glow so it can easily be found at night.

The switches cost 37$ on amazon as well, cheaper than many battery operated switches

I've never particularly liked those. My Lutron's are rock solid and easy to understand. (top button on, bottom button off) and they're tanks. Fast and icy snot...
