Need Help - Please : Can not update to new hub - FIXED

It looks like I'm having the same exact issue trying to migrate from my old C5 with internal antennas. I tried all the same things in this thread. Old hub says it creates the cloud back up, but the migrate screen on the new c8 pro shows no back ups even when trying to reload.

I tried purchasing the bundle subscription to see if that would fix the ability to see the back ups on the new C8 Pro, but that didnt work either.

Not sure what to try now? It seems like there may be an issue on the Hubitat back end that someone in support can hopefully help with?

Are you 100% sure both hubs are registered to the same email? If you go to my.hubitat.com and go to registered hubs both should be there and not say anything about guest accounts.

They both show up and show the option to deregister. Both have the same email address listed in the Hub details as well.

I tried to upload a new one and go through the instructions again, still no luck.

What platform are both hubs on? Both up to date 2.4.0 ?

Does he C5 have hub protect or not?

I have an old C7 without hub protect and I just tried making a migration backup on 2.3.9.184 and as soon as it completed, I can see it on my C8 on the cloud backups tab.

The c5 does not have Hub Protect. However I did just transfer my subscription from the c8 to the c5 and I am now able to see the c5 migration file on the c8 migration screen.

I swear they both were 2.4.0.146, maybe I got the screens mixed and looked at the same one twice or something.

The C5 is on 2.4.0.146 and the C8 Pro is 2.3.7.146 however when I try to download the 2.4 update on the c8 it starts but then gives an error that says download failed.

Going to reboot everything and try the update again to see if that helps with the download issue.

The old FW might have been the original issue. The early C8 firmware had some problems with the cloud migrations if I remember correctly.

If the reboot does not help with the update go to the network settings and switch the Ethernet connection speed from 100 to Auto or Auto to 100. Sometimes that also helps.

Appreciate the help! I was able to initiate the download after the reboot and it looked promising until it hung at update timezone on the reboot. After 20 min. I started reading the help section again. I tried a reboot and then a soft reset. The hub diags said it was on 2.4 version but the hub would not complete a boot cycle and I could not access the GUI.

I was able to revert to the 2.3.7 version and that allowed it to boot to the GUI get started screen. When i click restore from cloud it says it cannot connect to the cloud and to try later. So it looks like im back at the begining. The unit is hardwired and on the same switch as my old C5 which works fine when its booted up so i dont think its a connection problem. I have the c5 shut down while trying to get this one up per the instructions.

It looks like I may need to skip the cloud back up portion and start fresh to get back to the network settings to try the trick you posted.

You can just pretend you are doing it as a new hub so you can get to the settings. See if you can get in that way and then get it to update to 2.4.0 and reboot correctly.

Make sure the clock and time zone are set correctly also. If the clock is way off it causes issues with the cloud connection I think.

Then from the normal UI you can go to the backup section and restore from the cloud backup that way. You do not have to do it as part of the initial boot up.

I did a from scratch setup. I set the network speed too 100 from auto. It would not give me a cloud connection.

Based on your formware comment. I ended up setting up the wifi connection and it still would not connect. I shutdown the hub, then removed power, unplugged the network cable and then powered it back up. I rediscovered the hub and connected to it. At that point I had a cloud connection and was able to do the software update. It finished but then hung loading the GUI homepage post reboot and would not let me click anything. Every tab i tried to load it on did the same thing. Logged into diags and restarted it. Once that completed my back up was available to load and it looks like it loaded properly.

Going to re-enable my apps and lock security and see if everything is working. Then figure out if I can get it back to hardwired instead of wifi.

So you were able to do the migration now also?

Yes. The migration completed. However so far none of the switches or devices seem to respond from the device list.

Did you restore the cloud backup with both radios or just a local backup?

Check you z-wave details. If it is blank the zwave did not restore.

I did it with both zwave and zigbee detail. I did a zwave repair and a restart and that seems to have fixed the devices that i was having an issue with. Alexa is back online as well. I do have a zigbe weak channel alert, but will give it a day to see if everything finds it way back before trying to change anything or do a channel change or a zigbee network rebuild.

Working on switching the app now. Just as a note for anyone else. The instructions were not super clear on switching to the new hub in the app. The new hub wouldnt show in the hub list. A logout of the app and logging in again gave me the option to switch to the new one for anyone having that issue.

Thank you again @jpt10181. Your suggestions have been very helpful! Im hoping im good to go now. Just have a gew more devices and my automations to validate.
