I have a ghost a POS device I was testing created. i am on a C7 with the most current FW. Screen shot below it is device 5F / 095 decimal. Tried refresh, then remove a dozen plus time over the past 3-4 days and it starts with HE showing the device is "OK" then after the refresh / remove it stays in "Pending". Any suggestions would be appreciated. i bought a Zwave Silicon Labs USB stick but have never used it. Not a newbie to HE, but no experience trying to dork with the zwave network outside of HE tools. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated. jj
Did you power down your device? That helps with the forced removal process.
Otherwise - check this out:
Yes on the power down / up. Several times over the past few days. No change. Thanks for the link - I am reading up on how to do this with the SL Zwave stick. i'll give it a shot, just wish i didn't need to resort to this. Thanks for the fast reply. Have a good weekend j
You should be able to do it via the HE interface theoretically/eventually BUT the Z-Wave stick is a nice tool to help expedite things. Also some other little goodies as well like installing firmware a bit faster than the HE APP, being able to pair stubborn SO devices with no security etc.
Also maybe consider doing a "soft-reset" when you get things cleared.

Let us know how it goes!
Yeah I think we all wish that. But once I set up the zwave stick for the first time (it's a pain in the a** but thank goodness for that documentation) I realized how much easier it was to deal with ghosts using it. Now I have it at the ready and if a few attempts with HE doesn't work, I switch to the stick.
I said Bruce's name 3 times (like in Beetlejuice) and ran Refresh / Remove one last time before hitting the crack pipe and learning how to use this Silicon Labs stick - and this time HE removed it! Thrilled! Thanks for the feedback guys but i will be tickled to death to never have to learn how to use the Silicon Labs HW / SW to dork with the Zwave net outside of HE. jj
I had a stubborn ghost once, ended up depowering around 50% of my z-wave devices before it went.
I would try pulling the power to the house (get hub on a power pack) and the try
@erktrek So I have a zst10 and following the document outline, when pairing it to HE as a secondary controller, I never get the popup for the security (and I have browser to allow popups) and the z-wave tool throws an error about failing to pair due to security failure. Any advice?
Try the shutdown/pull power thing then immediately try and pair. That device should work.. otherwise I wonder if smart start via the app would work. I have a uzb-7 and ZStick+ Gen5
@erktrek Yeah, I tried both classic and nwi inclusion after shutting down hub and unplugging it for 10 mins. Just left with a ghost each time... Clicked discover several times each time hoping to catch it but no luck...Any other suggestions?
Now that I'm looking at it, it may be paired. It's seeing all the z-wave devices I have
okay so thats good! On HE it just shows up as device or some such.. can you control a device by using basic set on/off ( avoid the temptation for doing the all command!!)
So now how do I pair lets say a zooz 4-in-1 without security?
You do this by pairing the device via the secondary controller and NWI..not HE.
note there maybe a default security setting in the controller sw - look for the shield icon upper right hand part of the window (I think) - not in front of my computer right now sorry.
I pair it and it shows up in the z-wave tool list, but never shows up in HE. Do I have to push it over somehow?
Does it show up in the Z-Wave details? Also you can try and do a Z-Wave inclusion... see if it pops up then.
edit: sometimes a reboot brings it up too...
