Nanoleaf Canvas not found

Hi,

Had Nanoleaf Canvas and HE working fine together for months. After an update Nanoleaf suddenly stopped working on HE, but still works fine with the app and also Alexa.

I’ve tried deleting the device in HE and adding again, but some reason it just won’t add.

The process I’ve tried is:

Add Virtual Device - Nanoleaf Aurora
Updated IP address as the static IP of the canvas unit
Saved device
Put Canvas into pairing mode (press and hold power and dim button until lights flash) - this always disconnects from my app on phone/tablet
Press ‘getauthtoken’ - nothing happens when I do this

Am I missing something? The hub just seems to refuse to acknowledge the existence of the Canvas panels.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A few of us have had this problem (unrelated to HE update). Unfortunately I don't have a good answer for you but the way I fixed it was a soft reset which wipes out your scenes. Not the solution most are looking for but that's what fixed it for me. Upon seeing this thread, I checked the functionality of my Aurora, canvas, and elements and they're all working fine in HE and I have the newest version of HE.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve tried what I think is a soft reset (power and dim button until lights flash), my understanding is that doesn’t delete the scenes and doesn’t seem to have done in my case. Do you mean a hard reset, where you power off then press the buttons when you plug back in?

Getting the functionality of the Canvas with HE is more important to me than saving my scenes, so I’m not bothered if this is the only way to resolve it.

You're right. It's called a hard reset. I looked it up on this video: https://youtu.be/4J4eJBmxxXI. Hard reset is definitely what I had to do and it worked for me (I saw it worked for others, too).

Just speaking from experience with Nanoleafs in general, they can be REALLY fickle if you have a complex network with multiple APs. I had to provision a network just for the nanoleafs alone because I kept having random issues (sometimes months between occurances). Overall stability improved when I put them on their own dedicated network.

I have a ubiquiti commercial grade wifi installation.

Thanks again. Ill try the hard reset tomorrow and see how it goes.

Ok, so I finally managed to resolve this. Turns out the problem with HE finding the Canvas was in the pairing system. To put the Canvas into pairing mode, with the device powered up, hold the power button until the control lights cycle, then the Get Auth Token button will work and find the device. This was the step I was missing - the soft reset was an unecessary step that complicated matters.

All sorted now and back to how it was working before.

Thanks for the quick reply from the community, hope this helps someone else if they have the same issue.

Did you have a driver to add the Nanoleafs to Hubitat? I have the Nanoleaf Rhythm Edition.

Yes, this is supported. I have nanoleaf Rythm, canvas, and elements
