My C7 hub died

I performed a shutdown via the interface and removed power from my hub for 30 minutes.
Now the hub doesn't start anymore.
I've tested the powersupply and it works.
What do I do now?

Exactly what do you mean by this? Does any light come on on the front? If so, what color?

No light. Nothing at all.

The powersupply outputs power but the hub is totaly dead..

Then you need to contact @bobbyD about a replacement. How did you test the power supply?

I connected it to my phone and the phone started charging. Then i put it back to the hub and there was still no reaction.

Ok, thatโ€™s pretty conclusive. Try wiggling the micro USB connector with the plug in. I believe that there were a couple that were found to have a bad solder joint. The solder joint may have broken when you pulled the power.

Didn't work :frowning:

I know the horse has bolted now but for anyone else reading this, micro USB plugs/sockets are, in my opinion, fragile. My hubs are now POE but before, once the micro USB was plugged in, I left it alone. Any power downs were done at the outlet end.
Like I say, too late for you now but something to remember.
Good luck with a fix or replacememnt.

This is very important :point_up_2:
Anyone reading this; If you need to power cycle your hub, please follow this suggestion and do so by unplugging at the wall outlet, NOT the USB connector.

If you didn't do so already, could you please send us an email to support@hubitat.com along with your hub's purchase order and MAC address so we can explore replacement options?

Something like this can work too:

Can someone tell me if the C-7 used the same power inputs as the C-4?

My C-4 is hardwired (controlled by an output relay) for power. If I put in the C-7 I want to be sure I can use the same power source.

That's slick. I'm going to have to order a few.

I've got a couple laying around here that have a flat toggle, I think I got them with some Canakit cases. I haven't put them on my hubs yet, but next time I power them down....

I got a few of these because they are longer and replace the entire cable, vs adapter thing at the end.

Even still, they are only 5ft (1.5m) and may not be long enough in some situations. And in that case, the add-on adapter version would be perfect.

That are different connectors. The C4 is a barrel style connector. C7 uses microUSB. Both are 5VDC.

All of my non-permanent charge only (head phones, head sets, baby monitor) micro usb stuffs get these:

Anything perm/semi perm gets POE

And as a rule I now donโ€™t buy anything with micro usb if a usbC version can be found

Can't believe these things are so sensitive. Phones get plugged in many times a day for years. I'm scared to look too long at mine now.... Lol... I'm enjoying it. But, wow....

I'm with you on the USB-C thing. I like those magnetics connectors too. Good idea.

And PoE is the bees knees. I'm using it for anything I can!
