I just received my hub and plugged it in and Nothing. Tried another micro USB cable and another adapter, still nothing. Does Hubitat not test their devices before shipping?
Was looking forward to migrating off SmartThings, but it is not looking too good right now. Could I be missing something? I have contacted them, but I guess I need to wait for a response from them.
Any suggestion of things I can try while I wait for them to respond?
Sounds like you’ve done all the right steps. They (@bobbyD) will send you a replacement. I assume you have tried a different outlet, or verified that the one you are using has power.
When you say nothing, are you referring to lights? Have you tried to see if it actually has booted, but maybe the LED is not functional? Does it show up in your router after it is plugged in for a minute or so?
Yes, I verified a diff socket, also checked my router network leds, but nothing. After giving it another go again, I noticed a very faint quick flash of blue light, so I am assuming a bad connector or dry solder joint on the connector.
The first time I plugged my C7's it was a few minutes before they fully booted and I got any kind of lights, and several minutes before they were fully booted and function it. This was just on the initial start-up. I haven't noticed that on subsequent restarts.
That's why you have warranties . Seriously name me one manufacturer/supplier who does this though.
In any case I will say that Hubitat's customer service is excellent in matters like this, so just contact them and as mentioned they will (very rapidly) sort things out for you.
Or even Bruce, I even got an email from him on a weekend night, I was seriously surprised/impressed!
That is how companies should be doing customer support.
Bruce responded in email to me this morning and has started the process of sending me a replacement. It sucks that i received a faulty unit, but it is impressive when a company responds this way.
We do, CP Electronics. Every device goes on a jig to get its firmware and then it runs a programming /function test. Then gets factory reset and gets put in a box. But Hubitats support is 2nd to none.
Doesn't stop premature component failure though. Testing every device is great but it's like testing a house, the results are for that point in time. It doesn't stop a rat eating a cable as you leave the house.
FYI, my replacement arrived today and I have migrated the first few devices over from SmartThings. Need to start reading the developer docs so that I can migrate a few custom devices over.
Thanks again HE for the fast response and resolution.
