Which motion sensors have the fastest hardware reset times?
Fibaro can be set down to 1sec for retrigger but I'm not sure why anybody would want to do that. The same with Neo Coolam. Both are z-wave.
Aqara as standard are 1 minute but can be modified to re-trigger at 5seconds. Hue motion sensors can be set to 10seconds.
These are zigbee.
Others probably re-trigger quicker but these are the ones I know about.
The faster the trigger reset time, the more rapidly the sensor will burn through battery life. Thus, if you need a quick reset, you might want to get one of the motion sensors that has the ability to power from a USB wallwart. If necessary, you can modify a sensor to power it from USB.
I have one modified Aqara that the battery has not been changed for 18 months
Keep in mind, every trigger is a message getting sent across your network. Do a quick search for "spam*" and you'll see what kind of havoc a chatty device can have.
I have a piston rule that if I go into the garage for a tool the sensor turns the light on I am usually only in there for second or two before the same sensor turns the light off if the light is on and find that the lower the reset time the better
Is that what you want, or is that a problem? I'm assuming it's a problem, and you can probably mitigate it by some combination of using a longer delay on the app side and starting that countdown with motion inactive, not motion active (a common mistake I see if people write their own rules instead of using a stock app).
Its what I want and I can find more uses for more
