Any chance that "mode night" could have happened when the hub was down somehow?

Evaluate Required Expression at System Startup

IIRC, Bruce said having it enabled on a lot of rules may potentially be a drag on system resources upon system startup, but I may be totally misremembering that.. I used to use a lot of required expressions, but I moved back to plain conditionals in many of my rules -- I only have ~12 rules with Reqd Expressions now, so I did enable that toggle for those... Hopefully, that amount doesn't cause undue startup stress (I haven't noticed any ill effects so far).

I'm not sure when or how that gets set in your case.
