ok, here is the scenario.. motion activates dining room lights after sunset when not away.
it is a dimmer.. sets it to 20% turns off after 5 minutes..
now the issue.. if we are trying to play a game in there or manually turn it on or brighter i dont want it turning off etc.
thought the motion lighting rule below would do it.. but even if i manually turn off and back on after the motion rule has fired it is turning off or back on at 20% for us..
this should be simple.. i have paused that and am now trying this 3 rule combo as you cannot pause motion rules from rule machine.. Is there a better simpler way, I dont really want to have a separate button that has to be pushed etc..
I'd just create a virtual switch that would be turned on with a rule when the dimmer doesn't equal 20% and then use this as the switch to disable turning off.
Newbie here, so bear with me.
I just simulated your scenario with my dining room dimmer and a motion dimmer I'm messing around with on the coffee table.
The dimmer is a GE/Jasco, the motion is a Zooz zse18.
I used a simple automation rule, with a restriction. The restriction is the chandelier switch turning on.
(edit: I tried to screen shot the whole page, but failed.)
The other option I use is to not ever turn the light on fully, (99% in reality) but instead set it to say 95 percent. You can then use one or more of the following:
thankyou your suggestion fixed it.. kinda.. when back to the old rule and added these options..
i did not do the 2nd checkbox as you have as that implies it would still turn off the light when the timer expired.. i did the following and now when physically raising the level the lights stay on till i turn them off phyusically
