In this particular instance, the switch I selected is the smart switch that is triggered by the motion sensor. This also happens to be the switch that controls that circuit.
From what I understand you are saying that is should not be a problem (and in fact I do not have to use this option at all).
If I use the switch and no one goes into the room, the light will stay on until I turn them off. However, if anyone goes into the room the lights will go off after the specified period of inactivity.
