I created a motion control zone, put 5 outdoor sensors in it and set "False motion reduction" as the type. I then set a minimum of 2 sensors seeing motion within 1 minute to be the active trigger.
Oddly, if I trigger the same motion sensor twice, the motion control zone becomes active. I was expecting 2 different sensors seeing motion to be the trigger.
Have I misunderstood the purpose of "false motion reduction"?
When setting up the sensors for this type of zone, all of the members should have a common overlapping coverage area, the zone should trigger only when the required number of sensors in this area have been triggered.
You're saying that this is pretty much whay you have setup and you are sure that you're able to only set one sensor active twice (no others go active, or were active) within any given minute after the zone has gone inactive?
I have them around the outside of my house, the goal was to avoid the odd moth/false alert and have them trigger when someone walked from the front of the house to the side of the house, triggering one sensor out the front and then a side of house sensor. Instead, it triggers when the same sensor is triggered twice within the 1 minute.
Hi - I just added Motion Control Zone today 9/29/19 and see versions: Zone Motion Controllers: 2.0.4 Motion Zone: 2.2.8.
Somewhat similar to the above is that I added Motion Sensor (MS) #1 and MS2 to a new zone "Patio Zone"/ selected "false Motion Reduction" and activation window 1 second, active threshold 2. In log i see this: "Motion Zone Motion Sensor mZone-Patio Zone exists"
When viewing log - I see "mZone-Patio Zone is inactive" - but never see it active. I Have the two Msensors on the desk face down next to me. Their respective logs show active/ inactive.
When i pick only one up i see two entries (which i think are good):
Motion Sensor 3 Patio is active
[app:74] [warn] )False motion detected, 1 out of 2 sensors qualified
YET when i pick up both sensors at the same time - i confirm that both sensors show active in their device status - yet i still get the "[warn] )False motion detected, 1 out of 2 sensors qualified".
any tips?
I assume there should be a "Zone motion detected" message.?
in my HSM app - I also presume that under say, "Intrusion AWAY" - under motion controllers instead of selecting these two individual motion sensors, i can select the "Patio Zone" - so that the sirens/lights alert when the Patio Zone goes active.
Yet now sign that zone is going active.. Any tips are appreciated! Thanks
Awesome - and of course... i thought the activation window was how long the sensor needed to be active! not smart - you clarified that the window is the sliding duration window that both sensors had to be active.. . interesting that my test of flipping both sensors at the same time would not have been in the one second window... off to try that! THANKS VERY MUCH!
