Oooo...good idea, I use Ecowitt integration w/the Ambient temp/humidity sensors and didn't even think of that!
I wonder if the Ecowitt WH51 Soil Moisture sensor would work? I have two in the flower beds and they work great with the Ecowitt GW1000 integration. They go directly into the soil (compost) and measure the actual soil moisture.

I have them too but their probes are pretty short... they do seem to work great though!
Cheap stage #1 "proof of concept & value of effort" ;
perhaps before rigging up the optimal solution.
That's always been my concern about them for anything but relatively shallow garden boxes. However, if I was going to use one in a composter I would just dump it into the compost and let it tumble around/integrate in w/the mess.
Just don't accidentally include it when your putting compost on your garden.

I did a quick search for a similar product but did not see anything. Their business model seems to include some surplus lots or other sourcing that may only be available for a limited time.
Edit to add: searching on "aquarium digital thermometer" will produce many inexpensive results.

@calinatl I don't know how you're going to get the moisture reading but a quick Amazon search on Zigbee Temperature Probe yields these contenders for your Temp reading.
The last item, although it reads moisture, is not going to give you a "deep in the pile" moisture OR Temp reading and there's a lot of "it's merely relative" feedback from folks using it in their soil.
Actually, the SONOFF is one I didn't know about. Haven't seen if it's proven in HE driver-wise but I expect it to behave along the lines of all the other Tuya stuff.
