Hello, I have noticed that since Saturday evening some modes have not been setting at their scheduled times. I thought this was only the Home mode, but looking at the logs I see it's random other modes as well. I do use presence sensors to set home mode as well and they are working fine. This has always worked well in the past.
The logs show "Shadow mode set to null" at the times the modes should have changed.
Do you really want presence changes (e.g., switching to Away mode based on your sensors) to be ignored when you're in Early Morning, Night, or Night - Gust mode? I'm not sure this would cause your problem, and you still have Morning and Home modes where things should work as expected, but it's a bit of an unusual setup. If not, remove them from the "Set Mode with Presence Sensors" table. It also looks like you have three presence sensors and will begin away mode when any leaves, not all, which if you live with other people might not be the desired effect (if not, nevermind!).
But again, I'm not sure any of this should cause that. If you haven't already just gone into Mode Manager and hit "Done" to re-initialize things, that would be my first step. Keeping logging enabled to show what's up if things continue to not work as expected is also good.
I think I do, the old Mode Manager had a drop-down the said something like "Modes to prevent Presence Change". Some weeks I work a 7x24 on-call schedule and can leave in the middle of the night. I don't want to here complaints when I get back home from my wife that the house got cold when I get home.
Yeah, I know it looks odd but I let the house cool down when the wife leaves and heat my office for a short with a space heater before I leave.
Thanks for the reply Robert.
Edit: Removed the Virtual Presence Device as it was used for testing a previous issue.
Well, I've let this run a few days as the trouble mode/time is Mon-Thurs. I am still getting the "Shadow mode set to null" in the logs. Below is a screen shot from last few days.
Last night I removed all the modes from Mode Manager, then removed the app all together. I reinstalled MM and recreated the modes as they were before. The issue hasn't changed as seen in the screenshot below.
That appears to be a logging issue only. In each case, you've left and the mode has changed to Away. At 6:00 PM you get the log that has "null" in it. But then at 6:26 PM you return and the mode is correctly set to Home. Am I missing something?
Yes, the mode should change to home by time, even prior to the arrival sensor. That's the way it worked for the last few years with the old Mode Manager. Unless it works differently in the new app, if so how do I accomplish this (Setting home with either time first or presence 2nd)?
That's not how you have it set up. You are telling it to ignore time changes when Away. That's ordinarily how one deals with Away and time changes -- otherwise, what's the point of even having Away?
Well, I have a pellet stove and the heat recovery is not as good as the main furnace. So I have always had the Away mode not go any longer than 6:00pm. So just unchecking "Skip" for away is what is needed?
