Mode Manager Help

My Mode manager was set to switch to Evening at Sunset -30, decided that was a bit early so I went in and removed the offset, easy enough... Also enabled logging while I was in there, Done to exit

Sunset is 6:24PM today in the HE settings

The next day (yesterday), mode changed to evening at Sunset -30... Went to the Show Past Logs... no log for Mode Manager, I turned off Logging, turned it back on again, selecting Done both times...

Today I see a log, yet it doesn't show the mode changing from Home to Evening

Here is how I know the mode changed at Sunset -30, 6:04PM, this outlet is tied to the Evening mode

So...
#1 why is logging not showing all mode changes?
image

#2 why is Evening still being triggered for Sunset -30 when it has been removed?

What am I missing?

Changed to Evening at Sunset -30... again

Help me Mr/Mrs Wizard

Open the mode manager app. Click the blue gear at the top of the page. Now click on events. This will show you when your modes change and when. Have you tried rebooting the hub? I see that your using away mode with presence. Be careful using "when mode changes to" as a trigger because away overrides other mode changes.

Thanks @djordan2112

MM events is not even recording when mode is changed to evening

Here is the "past log" where it does show going into and out of evening

I rebooted the hub last week IIRC

TY for the heads up re: Away and Presence triggers

Rick

I would untie any automations from modes you are not seeing in the events log. Just tie them to at time "xx:xx am". Then go into locations and modes in your hub setting and delete the modes that are not changing. Reboot the hub and add the modes back in. Then go to modes manager and set the mode triggers.

@djordan2112, well no luck. I spent over an hour last night removing all references to Evening mode, deleted the mode, multiple reboots in-between then recreated everything

  1. Nothing in the main logs from Mode Manager
  2. Mode Mgr does switch to Evening yet not recorded in the Mode Manager Event page, there should be another entry above this one going to Evening
  3. When I reset it all up, I used Sunset with no offset... Mode Mgr still switched it to Evening at Sunset -30

@bravenel, what am I missing?

Did you hit Done in Mode Manager after making these changes?

BTW, rebooting has nothing to do with any of this. Removing a mode and recreating it can really mess things up, don't do that if you don't know 100% what you're doing (which 99.9% would not).

Did you try simply removing Mode Manager and setting it up from scratch? With what you've shown, no way to know what went on.

Yes, I use the Done button for everything

Rebooting, just following some advice, right now trying everything
So removing the mode from all rules then rebuilding everything with a new Mode (same name) can really mess things up??? Can you please share the right way to do this?

You suggest to "simply" remove mode manager and set it up from scratch, does that mean I don't have to remove any modes from any rules?

What more can I show to help?
Step 1 - removed -30 offset from sunset
Step 2 - noticed the next day Evening was set again at Sunset -30
Step 3 - Reviewed logs to find, the logs didn't exist and MM wasn't recording the change to Evening

What else would you like to see?

No, Mode Manager is just an app that sets modes. Modes exist independently of its ability to set them.

Hey @bravenel

I deleted MM and recreated it last night. Today modes changed several times and each logged correctly, except for going from Home to Evening

This is all that shows in Past Logs

Current Mode

Tonight, a light that is based off of mode changing to Evening with SL didn't turn on

Thoughts?

To add to my post above...

MM is still triggering Even at Sunset -30 when I have no offset
Sunset is 6:21pm

changed to Evening at 5:52pm

Help me Mr. Wizard

So I went into MM and changed the trigger from Sunset to Sunset -1, still ran at Sunset -30

Something is hung up in MM and uninstall/reinstall of MM didn't help

I'm lost

Well, this is me looking pretty stupid right about now :confounded:

Have you ever been reading over your rules by name looking to solve a problem saying, yup, I know what that one does... well that is what I have been doing related to this issue until yesterday morning when I decided to open each one. Lo and behold, I found a rule that was pushing Evening Mode at Sunset -30 so MM didn't have a chance.

It all started when I introduced Modes several months ago rather than using Sunset... and forget about this one rule

Now MM is logging the Evening Mode change, at Sunset and all is well in the world of MM

Sorry for the rabbit hole
