Mode Manager - Can You Clear a Mode Set by a Switch?

I am trying to set a 'Dull' mode based on the lux value reported by a sensor. I've created a switch which turns on/off as expected based on lux and have configured mode manager to set 'Dull' based on that switch being on. I had expected Mode Manager to respond to the switch turning off and re-evaluate the mode but this doesn't happen so it remains in 'Dull' mode. Is there a way to toggle a mode based on a switch?

It's not selected currently but I think that would be the opposite of what I want as it would prevent the time-based modes from activating if the mode was Dull wouldn't it? I still want it to switch to Evening mode, for example, even if it's currently in Dull mode.

As I understand it that selection says to not change mode based on time of day if the mode is in the list selected. If I add Dull to the list then the text on that area becomes "Set mode based on time of day (does not apply when mode is Away, Dull)" which is not what I want. I've confirmed that this makes no difference by adding it and toggling the 'Dullness' switch - the mode stays as Dull even though the switch is off.

I believe "Away" is a very special mode as far as the Mode Manager App is concerned. It does behave exactly as you mentioned above. I do not believe any other mode will cause Mode Manager to reassess the mode. In fact, when you think about it, what is triggering Mode Manager to reassess the mode is really whether or not someone is 'present' or not.

So is it not possible to turn a mode off without explicitly setting another mode on?

Correct. There is no way to turn off a mode. The Mode can only be changed from one mode to another.

Thanks @Carl @ogiewon - guess I'll have to rethink my approach.
