Migration from C-7 to C-8 failed Z-wave devices and echo speaks

C-8 PRO
Platform Version
2.4.3.176
I attempted migration from a C-7 to C-8 Pro.
I tried following steps as listed.
I made a cloud backup along with a local backup of the C-7.
Pluged in the new C-8 and did a restore from the cloud.
Hub rebooted and Z-Wave all devices don't work, neithed does echo speaks.
I have tried a restore from my local file and getting the same results.
I tried changing the Z-Wave to legacy and doing a restore again getting the same results.
Zigbee devices are working.
Need help PLEASE!

Does Zwave Details show any devices? Screenshot?

Did you try shutting the hub down and unplugging it for 30 seconds?

The local backup wont do you any good, it does not have the zwave radio data.

No devices showing (screenshot enclosed). I did shutdown the first time (cloud version), but the second & third restore was local so

if the z-wave data isn't in the local backup then i need to reload from the cloud?

Yes, only the cloud backups have the full radio data too (locals do not)

Based on a comment near the end of your OP, was the 8-Pro using JS when you did the first migration attempt?

Maybe the new Pros default to JS these days (I have no idea), but if so, that can't be great for migrations...

Yes they default to JS. Also due to some family issues and health, this C-8 Pro has been sitting in the box on a shelf for about 2 1/2 years so this was an early model. I will attempt the cloud reload then I will let it sit for maybe overnight for things to settle. After it sits I will unplug the power for 5-10 miutes and reboot.

You did not state the firmware of the C7, was that hub also updated to current? Ideally both hubs should be on the same platform version, or at least very close.

Also, the ZIP/JS issue should be resolved, as in it should not matter how the destination hub is set, the restore will set it the same as the source hub. But to be safe you could switch the destination hub to ZIP first and reboot.

Take a new fresh cloud migration backup of the C7 (assuming all is working well there still). Then try the migration again.

As for echo-speaks, if you have the cookie server setup with the cloud callback url (the default), then you will need to fix that after you move to the new hub. If you have a local server I think the easiest way is to reset the server settings in the Hubitat ES app, and then go through the setup again to get the correct callback URL.

I will get the C-7 back out tomorrow morning and see, not sure if it is still in tact. If it has been reset I'm really getting concerned because I just looked at my cloud backups and I've lost my C-7 backups so all I have are cloud C-8 and my local backups. (starting to look like I may have to remove all of my Z-Wave devices from the "Device List" and reinstall them. Once I get them working I will address the echo speaks.

The only way it would be reset is if you reset it. The way the migration works is if something goes wrong you can just plug the old hub back in and be mostly back to where you were, with maybe a few Zigbee devices that need to be reconnected. Zwave devices that have not been messed with will just start using the old hub since the network ID is just copied for the migration, the devices have no idea which hub is which.

OK, I have disconnected my C-8 Pro hub and reconnected my C-7. I found I had disconnected the C-7 from my account so I logged back in. Once in I immediately found the Settings / Z-Wave section did have all my devices listed but now it is showing several failed nodes, not sure whats going on? It seems I remember seeing that it may take some time for devices to figure things out and I might need to remove power give a rest and plug back in, again. Not really sure about how to proceed but it's obvious I first need to get the old hub with devices working fully before creating a migration backup. Any suggestions from you is greatly appreciated as I am only lightly knowledgeable.

You can try running a repair manually on any that say failed. If they are battery devices you might just need to wait for them to wake up.

They don't. At least on a migration they don't. I just did a C8 Pro migration myself.

re: echo speaks. There are issues with the api no longer working correctly to enumerate devices since Alexa+ was implemented. Migrating to a new hub would have caused this issue to surface. There is work being done on this but not sure where everything stands currently.
