Hello. Any updates on this feature?
I decline. Any updates on this key critical feature? Making people rebuild hundreds of rules within RM is just plain cruel.. There is a better way..
I think it would be fantastic if they added this feature too.
But I would be willing to bet that theyβre not going to say much (or anything) no matter how many times you ask.
Yes, there is...
For me, I've ditched Z-Wave altogether. So, if I need to rebuild my system on a new hub, all I need to do is restore my latest backup, re-pair my Zigbee devices (they'll pop right back into their former devices), and I should be all set. My Lutron devices should just start working again as they are all handled via telnet to their SmartBridge Pro.
I know it's not the answer you want to hear. We'd all love a FULL backup and restore capability. But at least Hubitat offers much more than most, especially compared to ST, in this regard. At least all of your rules would be restored, but you'd need to fix up each one that uses a Z-Wave device (unless you're using an external Z-Wave USB radio.)
Please know that I am not discounting the value of what you're asking for. I just believe Hubitat is probably focusing on higher priority items at this time.
Going zigbee is definitely one way around the issue. I've chosen another - moving all my automations to an external system (Node-RED) that sees/controls what are essentially abstracted versions of my devices.
Should my C5s crash, I can pair my devices to new Hubitats or any other controller that can expose devices to Node-RED. Replacing one abstracted device in automations with another is relatively simple
