Switch your phone to a non 5GHz WiFi, and make sure your Hubitat is also on the same network as that WiFi.
Use Google Home to connect the AC to Matter (it uses bluetooth on the phone, so be next to the AC), by scanning the Matter barcode with your phone. Then, while staying near the AC, open the settings of the AC device in Google Home, and generate a pairing code. Go in Hubitat and do Manually Add Matter device, and put in the code. (Keep your phone near the AC the whole time.) (You may need to enable Matter integration in the Hubitat settings.)
Once Hubitat connects, switch the Hubitat driver to either "google nest matter thermostat driver." or "Meross Matter Thermostat".
You can remove the device now from Google home if you want, it will not affect the Hubitat connection. You need the Google Home to make the initial connection because your phone has Bluetooth and the Hubitat does not, but once made you don't need it anymore.
