Ok. I've now gotten matter over wifi devices added into HE, but cannot seem to get matter over thread devices to add. Each time, i get a message about unable to locate device, make sure you're on the same lan. The same hub that I used to commission the matter over wifi is the thread border router that i commission the matter over thread. I thought maybe it was a smartthings issue so i even went out and bought an Echo border router. Same issue. Ive also tried this approach in Home Assistant and have the same result, but thats a different mess i believe.
I was trying to share my devices from my Home Assistant Border Router to Hubitat and also having issues. I also can't seem to get my Matter IP router from Home Assistant commissioned or shared to Hubitat either. I am frustrated, not sure how to proceed.
Not all thread devices are Matter. There was a period of time where Thread only worked with Homekit and some of those devices were never upgraded to Matter.
I am glad I picked up this bit of information. More of Apple's everyone-else-is-wrong-but-us-ism? Or is this just how it was at the start?
I was trying to use a motion sensor over thread. Once I went to the manufactures website and forum it became clear that they were not going to upgrade the firmware to be matter compatible. That is not Apple's fault. I didn't pay all that much for it either, which is un-Apple like so there was a warning sign.
Oh, well... One learns lessons in all of this. I had some Zooz stuff. The switch gear was fine, but the multi-sensor in my garage ate C123 batteries every 5 to 10 days. Switched to a Hue sensor through the Hue integration on my HE, and the two alkalines lasted jst about exactly two years.
UPDATE: I still wasn't able to join them into Hubitat. I retried the aqara P2 on the Echo hub and was able to pair it into Home Assistant. I did the same with the Eufy E31 smart lock and then used Home Assistant Device Bridge to bring it over into Hubitat. Not sure why the smartthings border routers wouldn't work. Also, I guess it could be an issue of the devices not being compatible with Hubitat. I thought they would pair and I would be able to see them as a device even if they didn't have a proper driver. Just wouldn't work. Maybe not.
