Making a rule to control heater

Is there a way to control a kickplate heater in my kitchen so that when a motion sensor is triggered betwen 5-8am and the temperature outside is below 30 degrees? Also i would like it to run for 5 mins. So my goal is to have it run but if there isnt movement for 5 mins turn off.

Definitely possible. Setting up a rule would be pretty straight forward. Would need info on how to turn on power to the heater.

If it plugs in then something like a Zen15 power switch would probably work. If it is hardwired then it's a bit more complicated.

I use a Zen16 to control a small space heater in my shop office. I use a virtual thermostat along with temp sensors and motion sensors to monitor it. I also use one in my Attic to turn a gable fan on and off. Again I have a virtual thermostat setup and it turns on and off based on the temp.

I have in ceiling heaters in my bathrooms that are turned on by smart switches and use a virtual thermostat to control them.

It always make me nervous when someone wants to turn on a heater with a smart switch. I would be sure that your smart switch has an auto off feature and can default to off after power failure. I use a Zooz ZEN04 LR 800 ZW Advanced to automatically turn off my wife's curling iron. It has the above features.

The kickplate heater is plugged into a zwave outlet. I have it set to come on but not sure how to set it up so it only runs for 5 mins after no movement.

Here is quick example using RM. There are other ways but I think this would match what you stated in your OP. As @Pantheon stated be careful, and be sure you have fail safes to make sure it doesn't get left on.

I have reassigned the plug to the wii, but this was what I was using.

Your >= and <= temperatures from the trigger and in the rule donโ€™t match - is that intentional? There is no additional value in having the rule run and do nothing, as far as Iโ€™m aware.

Youre right. It was just an example. I don't use it.
