Main Menu is Gone Again

In a frustrating continuing theme, I've yet again lost my Main Menu. I can see my HE in the portal, but my main menu is gone again. I lost my dashboard yesterday, but I performed a Soft Reset through 8081 and restored the system. In that process I lost my Lutron Pro Bridge, but since I'd just set it up, it wasn't too big of a deal to get it working again, and added my two new switches, and added them to my dashboard. I watched all my simple rules last night and everything worked perfectly. I STOPPED both of the rules in RM that were giving me trouble. And went to bed thinking I'll delete the RM rules and try to duplicate what I want with Simple Rules. Woke up this morning and everything again worked perfectly. I assumed everything was all right. This afternoon, I was going to switch a couple more Caseta switches over to HE, and was unable to access my Main Menu. I could try another soft reset, except now 8081 no longer works either.

Is the Hubitat's LED still green? Do your automations still work?

If the answer is yes, then the issue is most likely to be that your Hubitat's IP address has changed. So, had you reserved your Hubitat's IP address in your router's DHCP setup?

Hub light is green. I assigned a static IP almost a week ago by your suggestion. The automations aren't working that I can tell. This is very similar to what happened yesterday, somewhere, over 24 hours the hub disappeared. I looked in my device list on my router, and the HE isn't there. So you're right, the hub is no longer connected to my router. But I did assign it a static/reserved IP. It's in that list. But not on the connected devices list.

You should contact support@hubitat.com - I'm tagging @bobbyD on this thread, so he is aware of the situation.

To help him, could you document a few things:

  1. What brand/model of DSL/fiber/cable modem do you have?
  2. Is your Hubitat connected directly to the modem, or through a router/switch? If so, what brand/model of router/switch?
  3. Are there any "security-oriented" internet appliances on your network? By this I mean products like "Circle Home", "Fingbox", "Firewalla", "Gryphon Guardian" etc.?
  4. Have you tried different network cables? I think you should be able to do that without unplugging the Hubitat.

Thanks!

I've written him. Have to say, getting disillusioned. I thought I was in a conversation with him about this and other instability, but got an email this morning "closing" my case. I'm a noob, and I don't understand a lot about programming, and the rules use a kind of programming language, so I've messed about with them and had something that worked, and more and more I think the rule was OK, but the hub was doing weird things. I keep losing my motion sensors too. I would love to have the almost unlimited flexibility that HE offers, but since I've started using my hub, it's yet to have been stable for 24 hours straight. This thought just came into my mind just now: I purchased my hubitat probably almost a year ago. I hooked it up to my router, and then it sat while I still used Wink. On Wink's latest outage, I, like many, declared it the last straw, and decided then to jump ship from what looks like a sinking ship in Wink. When I tried to find my HE, it again wasn't there and I had to find it, and then I could start using it. So, what I'm trying to say, I'm not sure this is new behavior. A week ago, after many months of just being plugged into my router, and displaying a green light proudly, my HE wasn't accessible...and like I wrongly did last week, I power cycled it. And from there, I've lost the HE many times in various ways.

Hi there, sorry for the confusion. You have 3 tickets, one unattended, yet, one open, and the closure you received was for the one with questions about how Soft Reset works. As @aaiyar mentioned, this is new development in your case and likely one related to your local network, because you are unable to access the Diagnostic Tool. The details suggested above are all pertinent to this new issue. When you have a chance, either reply to one of the tickets you have, or create a new one, whichever is more convenient, with details about your network set-up.

9 posts were split to a new topic: Unknown error during Soft Reset

If the Hub was on a changed IP or offline entirely, port 8081 would not work.
Seems like something is borking parts of the OS/UI.

What does the browser actually see/do when attempting to access the hub? Seems like a screenshot could be useful.
