Lutron not reporting a switch turning on

HE C-8

I had an old timer-switch go bad on my closet. So I figured I'd replace with a Lutron Caseta switch i have laying around...and have a simple rule:

When (Master-Closet Turned on) {Turn off Master-Closet ..delay 15 min)

But for some reason Hubitat doesnt get the "on" event from Lutron. But it almost always gets the "off" events.

Any ideas?

Please share some log screenshots.

ETA: and screenshot of your rule.

Is this newly installed Lutron dimmer fairly far away from your Lutron SmartBridge (Caseta) or Main Repeater (RadioRA).

If so, it might be able to receive signals, but the dimmer might be out of range to send signals. Just a hypothesis.

Do you have a Lutron Clear Connect repeater device? For my Caseta system, I have a plug-in dimmer module that acts as a Lutron repeater.

As you can see it keeps getting the "off" events properly....but there is an "on" in between each one of those that HE is not seeing. There is one "ON" near the bottom but all the other ones are missing. (so the rule never fires)

Your logs suggest that @ogiewon's explanation might be on the mark.

You can test this in a few different ways:

  1. Move the Lutron bridge close to the device and see if the rule triggers as expected.
  2. Remove the dimmer from the wall, and move it close to the Lutron bridge (perhaps powering the dimmer using an extension cord).

If on events are recognized reproducibly, then it might be time to get a Lutron repeater.

hmmm. I have one in my bathroom that is even a little further away and there's no issues...in fact I control it from my Harmony remote all the time through that integration. (Who wants to get out of bed when they leave the bathroom-fan on LOL)

But i did find that Lutron app has a built-in auto-shut-off timer, so I think i will just use that.
