im on 2.3.7.145. ill remove the dimmer from HK and re add it. its the only dimmer i have.
Are you connecting the Lutron bridge directly to HK, or are you using Lutron - HE - HK? What does the configuration on your Lutron app look like. Here is mine.
I also have the Lutron Bridge connected directly to HK, so it doesn't go through HE.
Same here. Using Lutron's native HomeKit integration alongside of Hubitat's Telnet based Lutron integration.
I just ran a quick test changing the dimmer level manually at the switch, from within Hubitat, and from within HomeKit. In all three cases all systems were updated in less than 1 second to the correct dimmer level value.
mine looks the same. i dont have any automations in homekit. the only thing homekit sees is what is shared to it via HE.
So you do not have the Lutron Hub connected to HK?
no, all i have is the lutron integration with the lutron pro hub and all the devices are HK enabled.
Most of us I believe don't share them that way, and instead have the Lutron and Home hubs talking directly. Don't know if it makes a difference, though.
It is completely fine to pass Lutron dimmers to Apple Home via Hubitat. In fact, there's 1 large potential benefit. Using the direct integration 'on' is always 100%. Using Hubitat the 'on' is configurable to a fixed or previous level.
On the other hand, when my Hubitat hub was down while I was updating it, and I could still tell Siri to turn on/off lights.
i added the dimmer back to HK. since i added it back the problem hasn't happened. ill update tomorrow and let you know if it comes back.
none of these devices require apple home to function so why would i need to have HK at all. its only there for me as a gui vew into the devices.
You don't.
After disabling HK and re enabling HK in HE, I have not seen the issue re appear.
For clarity, did you disenable/re-enable the dimmer or the HomeKit app?
in HE i disabled/enabled the dimmer for HK.
That did resolve the incorrect 100% display but i still have a problem sometimes where it turns the dimmer to 30% but the lights dont actually come on. If i hit the off button on the light it works correctly the next time.
Is there a difference in the rule between using dim:0 and turning the switch off?
On a Lutron dimmer they are the same. And I think I slightly misunderstood what the other user did. He deleted/reinstalled the entire HomeKit app, not just the device. While a nuclear option, I imagine that would work. I don't know if the factory reset option in the app would fix the issues.
I don't think HK has anything to do with the issue. Since there is no automation in HK it really has nothing to do with how the lights come on or turn off.
The HE logs show the dimmer being set. The switch shows the dimmer set at 30% but the light doesn't come on. If i hit the power off button on the switch it will start working with the rule the next time around. I cant nail down what is making it stop working.
When the switch is in this state the dimmer buttons and the full on dont work. I have to press the off button and then it starts working.
I guess i could disable the switch from HK and see if everything works for a day or so to rule out HK completely.
i removed hk from the equation. when the rule fires it works. but sometimes it stops working. the devices tab shows that the dimmer was set to 35 but the light doesnt turn on. if i use the HE device settings to set the dimmer value to 100 then turn the light off and on again it will light up and the rule works again.
The one thing you haven't said anything about is the kind of fixture the dimmer is controlling. Not all dimmers are compatible with all light fixtures. Besides general compatibility, small loads (like a single bulb) sometimes have a difficult time with dimmers. Do you have a different bulb/fixture you can try with the dimmer?
There are 6 recessed lights with all LED lights. Before i got hubitat i had these configured with HK and Lutron Hub. I never had the issue prior to HE. HK controlled these lights for about 2 or 3 years before.
To recap:
When this issue started i have replace that lutron switch 3 times to rule out the issue. All 3 switches had the same symptoms.
I removed HK from the environment thinking maybe HK was doing something.
I have simplified the rule. Turn the light on at 35% turn it off with motion events.
After a few days or even hours the problem comes back. The dimmer value on the HE shows 35%. The dimmer light on the switch shows 35% but no light.
the only thing i can do to get it working again is from HE turn the dimmer to 100% then off then on and it will start working again.
I dont know if it matters but im using Rule Machine for the automation. also the logs dont show anything accept the actions the rule is taking. all of them look normal.
