Low Level Dimming

My experience with plain, dumb, dimmable led bulbs is that they don’t dim to a really low level as do incandescent bulbs.

Does anyone know of a dumb led bulb that does in fact dim to a very low level?

My Sengleds do.

I like Phillips warm glow LEDs for bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. where we might want dim lighting at night.

They don’t necessarily dim to extremely low levels, but they get pretty dim for me (which dimmer one uses probably has an impact there too), and I think the warmer color temperature at low levels makes them feel more like incandescent bulbs as well.

My Gledopto's dim right down to level 4 or 5 quite reliably. Also the colour settings tend to be more dim so select a yellow and they will dim right down further. But they are smart lamps, so aren't "dumb" as such

My experience is:

  1. Dimmable LEDs being controlled by a Dimmer have limitations in the ability to dim.

  2. Controllable LEDs (aka SengLED, Inovelli etc) which have power 100% of the time and are dimmed by internal circuitry can dim to a pretty low level.

Are your Sengled led bulbs SMART bulbs? In this thread I’m asking about dumb led bulbs.

In any case, I have Sengled smart led bulbs, and they don’t dim nearly as low as incandescent bulbs.

Although this thread is asking about plain old (dumb) led bulbs, I would also like a smart bulb that would dim really low, similar to incandescent.

Ah yes they are. I do have some R20 bulbs that are LED and not smart that also dim very low but you're probably looking for regular everyday bulbs. Sorry I missed that. I'd say both dim to what I would guess would be about like a 5 watt incandescent. Good luck in your hunt!
