Lost connection with all iris v1 after modem reset

Hi all,

So I’m new to hubitat (Iris orphan), I was able to get everything setup and working as I had with Iris. I had to Turn the modem off which resulted in the Hubitat hub being given a new iP address. I can log in and see all of my devices but none of the buttons, door sensors, motion sensor are working. I can activate some bulbs and wall switches from my dashboard but al of my rules are not working. When I press a iris v1 button the light on the button doesn’t work either...

Does any one have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Your #1 task is to solve that "Hubitat hub being given a new iP address" issue. You really do want that to be a static/unchanging IP address. Reserving an IP address is what you need, but the specific instructions will be specific to your DHCP server... probably that modem you power cycled. Use your Admin credentials on that and setup a DHCP reservation. Make it match the ORIGINAL IP address you registered with...

It might not be in the modem. If you use a router separate from the modem, it will be there that you need to reserve the IP address. Some cable modems or DSL modems combine the functions of modem and router. View the instructions for your device to find out how to get into it to reserve an address.

Thank you for the prompt responses! That all seems logical and I'm googling how to do this with my NETGEAR 6400 router....
So, as far as I know I have reserved my hub the original ip of xxx.19 but when I reboot the hub it still shows the device as being xxx.2 on the main page of the router device list. I think I'm missing something... :frowning:

Does your hub have internet connection?

My hub, which has been registered fine for months, lost internet connection on a reboot and was telling me I had to register again. But when internet connection was restored the hub (after a reboot) was fine.

DHCP leases are for a period of time and devices don't generally ask for an address until the time period has expired. Check your router to see what the lease time is. You may be able to change the lease time but individual devices will likely not ask for a new address until the original lease time expires. Try shutting down the hub and powering it back on.

Thanks everyone for your responses, I really appreciate it!!

I have successfully given the hub it's original ip. It is connected and registered to Hubitat. I can manually turn lights on via dashboard but the iris v1 buttons, window/door contacts & motion sensors are non responsive & have not sent any info (temp, movement, open/closes) to the hub for at least 24hrs now.

I have iris v1 outlet switches which are working fine.

Both router & Hub have been restarted and I definitely have a solid internet connection...

Not sure what's going on with these other devices... ?

Could it be that Zigbee devises lost connection and are trying to find the right channel again? If so I guess I just need to be patient...right?

On your Settings page, view the Zigbee Details. What do you see there? Is it on channel 20? That seems to be the best one from what I have been reading in other posts.
Scroll down and see if all your Zigbee devices are showing up in the list. You can view individual devices from that list also by clicking on the Device Label (Blue in the list). That takes you to Devices so you can just go there as well and check the status of your devices there. Each one has a page for configuring the device and an Events tab so you can see the activity/activites for the devices. It may be that it will just take time for all of them to sync up after the changes. I'm only speculating as I do not claim any special expertise in this area.

Yes, it’s set to 20 and I can see all devices there. I’ll give the system 24hrs and see how things go...

Cheers

Thanks for your advice, I successfully assigned the original ip to the hub so I can use my saved bookmarks to go directly to dashboards etc.

When I go to devices I see all of my devices but only my bulbs are active. All of my iris v1 devices (excluding outlet switches & Garage door motor switch) such as buttons, window/door contacts & motion sensors have not sent any info (Temp, movement, open/closes etc) to the hub since the modem reset.

I did remove one button, reset it and rediscover it to see if I could get it to work, which it did after having to delete the rule and redo the rule also. I'm hoping there is a way to repair the network with the other devices as opposed to having to reset and rediscover them all and redo all of the rules again.

Hoping for a easy answer

Cheers

For Zigbee, it's quite ordinary to put the hub into pairing and then 'do-the-dance' on the Zigbee device and have the hub say the device was previously known and return to it's exact spot in the system. ZWave, not so lucky, it has to be Excluded, Included and then swapped in to the Automations.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

So... I'm putting devices into pairing mode, they are being found by the hub as a previous device (with the names I allocated), I click on the tile showing the name of the device and it takes me to the device info page, I click save device.

The problem I'm having is that the device is staying in pairing mode and not going back to being 'the device'.

Is there something I'm missing?

no, that's just how that 're-pair' displays.

Just last week I re-paired a SmartThing Fob, and wore the question mark on my forehead for a couple minutes too, when it did the same.

Nothing else to do. The hub, which knew about the device and hadn't forgotten, has 'helped' the device to remember. They are back in sync.

But the problem I'm having is the hub finds it, but it doesn't 'lock' it back into the system. My devices are still in pairing mode :frowning:
