This morning I updated my C7 hub System to build: 2.4.4.135.
Now I have NO devices on that hub. Any way I can recover them?
I also have a C8 hub that is fine after the same update
I got it figured out, I restored from a local backup, I guess the question is why did this happen when I updated the hub ????
It might have been database corruption. You probably could have just rebooted with the rebuild database option to fix it, though it is good the backup restore worked for you.
So, if the devices were actually gone (removed from the radios as shown on the Zigbee details or Z Wave details in the settings pages), then a local backup won't restore them. The only backup that actually restores devices is the cloud one as that is the only one that actually backs them up.
My guess is that the OP did have a DB corruption showing devices missing from the DEVICES page, and yes, a reboot with rebuild will likely fix that.
I am rather ritualistic in my update process. Before I do the update, I do the following:
1- Reboot with advanced options to rebuild the database. This should assure that I have a clean database
2- Perform Local backup and copy to my NAS
3- Perform Cloud backup
4- Run the update
5- Reboot with advanced options to rebuild the database again just in case anything got corrupted
I am sure all of that is not necessary all the time. But, it only takes a few minutes extra, and gives me more piece of mind. Yet to have an issue with an update. (knock on wood)
I pretty much just do a reboot before an update, and then update, and then go with it after reboot. Good point though, to check rebuild database on the pre-update reboot, I should start doing that.
