Looking for a curtain robot

So far I see the aqara e1 but from what I read a h.e driver isn’t really working well
And the Switchbot curtain but it’s not local so I’m not sure. Suggestions?

If your setup is compatible, then I can vouch for the Zemismart solution as well as the community driver. I have been using them for at least 6 months now.

One word of caution - the position memory seems to be volatile (lost if batteries fully drain). Either consider the solar charge option or set up a rule to remind you when battery reports < 25% or so. The setup procedure only takes a minute, but remembering where I put the remote and instructions takes more time.

Ugh, 30 day’s shipping lol

Understood. I ordered mine from Aliexpress which had a slight advantage for both price and delivery.

Thank you

What’s the charging port interface?

Micro USB, I believe. Each comes with a charger cable and USB extender, which total about 10 feet (3m).

Switchbot is 100% local if integrated with Home Assistant. Yes, it is extra box
but thanks to HA I converted my Switchbot Curtains and Ecobee Thermostat
to become 100% local. Integration HA-HE is very easy with HADB (Home Assistant
Device Bridge).

I actually have h.a but the forums confuse me. Is the Bluetooth easy to set up on the pi? Is it stable, everything works?
Ecobee says “cloud polling”

My experience with the RPi4 built-in BlueTooth adapter wasn’t great… seems like it was interfering with the WiFi adapter. I was using HA BT to bring Xiaomi MiFlora sensors to Hubitat.

I started HA with RPi3 but it was stable but extremely slow so I switched to ODROID N2+
This one is very fast and stable but does not have built-in BT. Not a big deal - I am using
USB BT Dongle.

Ecobee could be integrated in two different ways.

  1. Could based integration.
  2. Home Kit integration. <--- THIS ONE IS 100% LOCAL

And SwitchBot Curtains are also 100% local integration:

This is the right approach- external USB BT dongle with a good shielded cable, away from any WiFi antennas.

Are your BT devices in the same room where the BT radio is?

No. HA and 3 curtain robots and one push bot are in the living room.
Two more curtain robots and another push bot in the bedroom.
There is a wall with metal stubs in between but toys in a bedroom are very happy.
Also I am experimenting with my adjustable beds. They are obviously in a bedroom
and have BT controllers. It looks like they will work with HA sometime.

One room over, 20 feet

Thank you
